I like Rush and all that rant against the socialist machine.

Back to the original subject, IMO the stock market will start to rise when/if it appears pretty likely that Romney will win. It will surge if he actually does win.
OTOH, if Obama wins, it will drop precipitously, and possibly crash.

As a person nearing retirement with a lot of investment in the stock market, this is a big issue with me.
I don't want to miss out on a rally, but I sure don't want my retirement funds halved, or worse.

If I knew BHO was going to win, I'd have to cash out and invest in firearms, precious metals, and food

Today would be a good day to cash out.
Better to miss out on a portion of a rally than stick around too long and get caught in a crash.
You can reinvest 60 days from now if you're inclined, but you can't so easily recover from a crash if your retirement is invested mainly in stock. If you're that close to retirement, having a big chunk of assets in stock is a bad idea anyways.

Well, the biggest portion by far is in funds that are keyed to a projected retirement year, and get more conservative as you get closer.
(Fidelity Freedom Funds). One is 50% equities and the other is 55% equities. So it's pretty conservative already.
Still, I will move to money markets pretty soon.

It would be good for the country but bad for the Democrats and Republicans who want bigger government and less freedom.

Can you tell us another time in our country's history where a President of the United States has called out a private citizen for disagreeing with him like Obama has done with Limbaugh? Wake up America..it might be Limbaugh's today but your opinion next.

I trust Rush as much as, if not more than, any other blowhard on TV, the radio or the internet... including this forum.

Rush is the Republican version of Michael Moore. A true believer but not one to let the facts or logic get in the way of a good story.

To my mind Rush is the conservative counterpart to Chris Matthews.
Michael Moore's counterpart is Dinesh D'Souza (2016)

Seems to be...since this is the first post I see in this thread:
RoyGBiv wrote:Interesting first post.

Rush is a very large bag of very hot air. I am not a fan.
He is the Right's Rachel Maddow. Rush does us few favors with his speak-->think.
I suspect all the doomsayers (in both directions) are overstating things.
America is quite resilient.

All that said, there is LOTS of merit to the notion that we will experience economic hardship if Dear Leader is re-elected.
I just :headscratch when I saw the RGB post, but I seem to miss a lot of deleted posts.
atticus wrote:This election is not about Rush. If someone doesn't like what he says, he can turn off the radio. Our problem is that the only way we can turn off Obama is to vote him out of office. Rush does not influence the economy, nor does he set policy, nor does he appoint federal judges and czars, nor does he dictate foreign policy. Arguing against Rush is setting up and punching a straw man. Obama is the issue. Not Rush. Nor Rachel Maddow, for that matter.

:tiphat: I must agree with you, while at the same time acknowledging I can also be a blowhard (although I strive for brevity).

Except that Dinesh D'Souza, unlike Michael Moore, does let facts get in the way.

:headscratch Could you elaborate, please? I understand 'not letting the facts get in the way of a good story', but are you saying D'Souza let the facts get in the way of the 2016 movie? What does that mean?
