It sounds like you may have more serious concerns than not being allowed to carry at work. I'm not sure what normal employee benefits you are talking about, but if they are withholding part of your pay to cover a portion of the cost of offered benefits, that's quite a problem. I do hope you are at least getting paid - I'm sure you wouldn't want to volunteer your time to accumulate hours, if you were an Air Force pilot. I hope it works out for you.
