I doubt if any intruder could tell the difference between being shot by the 88 Maverick or the 500.
I have a Maverick. Not a dressy gun but will make it happen if you need it.
I also have an 870. They both go bang every time.
My favorite is my Winchester 1200.

Good to know about the interchangeable stocks. I might need to buy a slightly shorter stock so my wife can use it more comfortably. We'll see how she does at the range next week.
That same pawn had a Winchester 1200 for $230 or so, it was pretty banged up, the wood needed work, and it needed to be reblued. They called it a "project gun." While it looked like it had the potential to be a pretty gun that just wasn't what I was after.
