Mailed my packet July 3rd, and received my plastic today July 23rd. 20 days is not too bad. I definitely will continue to browse these forums. Lots of cool people in here and very useful info..

And that includes the July 4th holiday too! Congratulations!

I'm curious if you don't mind - did you already have some other type of state-issued license that required a background check before applying for your CHL?

I did, and I had plastic in hand 19 days after mailing (including Columbus Day). So I've often wondered if a previous, and recent, background check may speed up turnaround time somehow.

Maybe the better question is did you apply online and when did you do it? I'm wondering if they start the background check when you apply online and not when they receive your packet.
06/14/2012 Online Application
06/22/2012 Fingerprints
06/23/2012 CHL Class
06/25/2012 Mailed to DPS
06/26/2012 Delivered to DPS
07/03/2012 Background under Review
07/20/2012 Manufacturing Pending
07/21/2012 Manufacturing
07/24/2012 Mailed
07/30/2012 RECEIVED!!!

Definitely not bad. Some people go 20 days without DPS admitting they received the CHL-100 and other application documents.

Mine went through pretty quickly. the only state issue license I have is a law license, which required fingerprinting and a very heavy duty background check as well. maybe that's why mine went through quickly?
