July 23-27 instructor class

#1

Post by lowpull »

Just wondering if anyone else on here is going to the July 23-27 instructor class? I will be coming from the tiptop of Texas panhandle. So far the only revolver Ive got to shoot for qualification is a 44 mag hogleg.

I will be attending as well. I am coming from Sachse,TX "Dallas area".

I booked my hotel at Comfort suites.

I'll be using my 6" colt diamondback .38. Think the snub nose 44 might be overkill

I am doing my reshoot for the instructor class on the 27th at 8:30. You will enjoy the class I learned so much!

There are some good buys out there right now on K Frame Model 64-5 S&W 4" revolvers in .38. They are turn ins from security companies usually, so the hammer spur is bobbed to shoot only in double action, but they have smooth triggers. They might be a little scratched up from carry but have not been shot much in most cases. There are other good revolvers certainly so this is not the only one, just a reasonably priced one if you are considering a purchase.

Good Luck with your class!

If I can just keep myself calm and not panic when that stupid target flips around.

It's not really a bad guy. Only paper. No need to panic. And, you have a good revolver now, so no worries!

I know and I am normally not the panicky type but when I am in a "testing" situation all my normality fall out the door.

I however am going to pass this go round. I have a much better revolver for the situation and more confidence in myself. Last time I think my lack of confidence had a lot to do with it.

Please Elaborate on the Target flip? Does it flip every time we do a fire sequence? I have been practicing with my revolver in Single action. I think there is plenty time for single action, Am I wrong?

Just trying to be as prepared as possible...

The time to shoot each string is the same as the CHL test, IIRC.
