Heading to Plano for Ham-Com this weekend. Anyone know if the Plano Centre is posted? My site/interweb searching yielded nothing one way or another.

HamCom is held at:
Plano Centre
2000 East Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, TX 75074

Thanks,
Jim

Posted or otherwise, you need to know if there are school-related events and training in the center. I do not go there armed for that reason. School kids may be competing for their school league.

A ham radio convention be not a sporting event.

I carried there last year. It was not posted. Sadly, I'm not able to make it this year.

No, it's not posted. Even if it was, it is city owned and would be unenforceable. I just got back from there and carried the whole time. Not a problem. Carried last year and the year before, too! Had a great time, saw lots of radio goodies, and old friends. And, I managed to save some money for the gun show tomorrow! :woohoo

Wow, Keith, if I had known you were there I would have said howdy! I was wondering if there were any other forum members there.

I was the extremely handsome fellow wearing a black shirt, khaki cargo shorts and sandals. Did you see me?

Am I the only one who was a little disappointed to find out this event was dedicated to radios, and not cured pork products?

All I know is they screw up my weekly waffle house visit. I was thinking about putting a sign at the entrance to the parking lot telling them there are free donuts at Plano Centre

Yep, you are.

Ham-Com is an annual rite-of-passage for hams in the area, but between the wife's broken car (anyone looking to buy a Ford Freestyle?) and babysitting the grandkids this morning, alas... I'm sitting here listening to everyone that went talk on the radio :bigear: about their swag and treasures, hoping that 6 meters opens up for the contest in a little while.

(sigh)

For you non-hams... that's equivalent to saying that your next-door neighbor had a 1911 in great shape to give away, but you were just five minutes too late. :banghead:

Dad and I made it out there on Friday and had a great time. Ran into some old and new friends. Sure wish I could've made back out today.

I understand that they had a power-outage today that nearly shut them down today. That would've been terrible, but glad it all worked out.

Didn't spot any 30.06 signs, just lots of "shiny" objects.

The camera-style vests were very popular FWIW... Accessorized with the appropriate vendor, event and call-sign buttons, radio gear, and non-tactical looking clothing it screamed "radio-geek" more than "gun" to me.

I tailgated until a little after noon, wouldn't have stayed that long but a ham said he was coming back "probably" to buy the beam antenna I was selling. I got tired of waiting. Sold enough to make me happy.
