According to prosecutors at the trial, the shooter's motive was to "to get back at his estranged wife." One of the victims was the shooter's father-in-law.

In Galveston Wednesday a 42-year-old man was arrested and charged with shooting another man at 2 a.m. in an incident that involved a knocked-over barbecue pit.

The victim's injuries were not life-threatening.

Reports do not say whether beer was involved.

At the trial of Mr. Ramos on Thursday, prosecutors played video of an interview with Ramos after the shooting. In the video Ramos reportedly said the he shot his father-in-law because he believed relatives of his estranged wife had burglarized his house.

The report does not say if the burglary was ever solved.

...nor was it mentioned in the police report...though the ABC video showed several detectives surreptitiously licking their fingers...

The Jury found Mr. Ramos guilty of capital murder Friday after two hours of deliberation. He will be sentenced automatically to life in prison without parole.

Although he pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in the shooting of a third victim, whatever sentence he might get on that charge is irrelevant.

Sentencing is scheduled for Monday.

The defense had a weak case no matter what. Apparently investigators jumped through all the correct hoops so that the videotaped confession was admissible.

Sentencing hearing was held Monday. The survivors of one of the deceased victims wished the convict a short, miserable life and a hot reception in the underworld.

He was sentenced to life without parole on the capital murder charge and 20 years for aggravated assault.
