I used to live on Richmond and Post Oak near the Best Buy. I used to go to Top Gun because it was close by. I even took my CHL class there. I always thought they were OK and went there often, until a new employee started working there, this was pre-fire, renovation and re-opening.
Every time I went there for 4-5 times in a row, he was always the guy who waited on me, even when other guys were available, not a problem normally. However, he was always a little rude and arrogant toward me and seemed to get worse every time.
I had never been nothing but nice to him and sometimes did ask him questions about some of the new guns they had for sale.
He did not seem very knowledgeable and sometimes after my rangetime, if I was seriously interested in something, I would stop by the counter to ask some of the other guys who were able to answer my questions.
I stopped going there until after the reopening after the fire. I had to check it out. That guy was gone and the store improved. I even bought another gun there. The guy behind the counter was very helpful and nice. So were all of the others who waited on me in the 3-4 times Ive been since then.
So to here your story make me a little sad.
I thought they turned things around.
Side Note: I always (almost) do my own research and go to the gun shop to test the guy behind the counters knowledge of a particular firearm, unfortunately many times I know way more than they do. When they tell me/confirm what I already know, correct me when I am wrong-it happens, enlighten me to something I didnt know, or are just honest, they usually get my business. Examples, after short conversations with a guy at a gun store and a gun show ,both told tell me what there were better options on the market to consider instead of that what they were selling. In one instance I purchased anyway (CIA WASR 10/63 AK) and the other I took his advice. Try to sell me a bill of goods with some gun store bubba bull and I am out the door. Sometimes, if you know what you want you just put up with the bull and get it anyway because they have the right gun and the right price, and their lack of knowledge makes no difference.
