Not sure there is such a thing as THE best pistol. But my favorite is the Browning Hipower.

A Glock 20 or FN FiveseveN if I need to cut down weight for survival, a Sig P220/P226/P228/P229 or 1911 if I don't have to worry about every single ounce.

Re: If you could buy one pistol....
Imagining doom, gloom and a survival situation where I could only have one pistol... it would likely be a Glock and probably a G19. It'll take more abuse than I can and ammo is readily available and relatively cheap. Barring the doom and gloom scenario, I always reach for my Kimber 1911 because it's so darn cool and pretty and it shoots like a dream.

G19 is my "when it really counts" go-toRussW wrote:Imagining doom, gloom and a survival situation where I could only have one pistol... it would likely be a Glock and probably a G19. It'll take more abuse than I can and ammo is readily available and relatively cheap.

I know we all love our semi's and everything listed so far are great choices. But how bout a little love for old school revolvers. I bought my S&W 19 used over 20 years ago and never ever a FTF.

I'm sure I'll eventually try to insert a bullet backwards or something... Does that count as a FTF?mot7981 wrote:I know we all love our semi's and everything listed so far are great choices. I would buy a Glock 23 if I could only have 1 gun. I carry a G19 now, but will have a G23 by December.

Re: If you could buy one pistol....
Well, it wouldn't be one of those four, but that's me.If you could buy a pistol right now, what would you buy? I am torn between another Sig, a Glock, a Beretta or a Springfield XD
My next handgun, when I can afford it, will probably be a .357 wheelgun, either S&W or Ruger. I do have some more semiautos on my wishlist, like a CZ or a Coonan, but I'm pretty happy with the ones I have now: Kimber fullsize 1911, S&W 1006, DE .50, SIG P-232, etc.

If availability is not an issue, I would buy a Bren 10 and a pastel pink t-shirt.
