Nice, thanks for the info. First I'd seen on this.
I'll quit carrying a gun when they make murder and armed robbery illegal

It would be even better if the people responsible had to pay out of their pockets instead of stealing money from their victims to pay it.
Tyranny is identified by what is legal for government employees but illegal for the citizenry.

The only problem is that the court awarded roughly one-third of what the plantiff's lawyers asked for. Hopefully, they'll be satisfied with that.bzuber56 wrote:Good news, thought all would like this news

The problem is that the lawyes get ALL the money. I did not see anything about Mr. Heller getting a dime.n5wd wrote:The only problem is that the court awarded roughly one-third of what the plantiff's lawyers asked for. Given the friendly disposition the District of Colombia has had with regards to this case, I'm sure they'll cut a check immediately.bzuber56 wrote:Good news, thought all would like this news

Yes, that was sarcasm.
I don't fear guns; I fear voters and politicians that fear guns.

I seriously doubt Mr. Heller paid a dime of the $3+ million in attorney fees incurred either.JJVP wrote:The problem is that the lawyes get ALL the money. Re: D.C Orderd to pay &1m in Attorney Fees
Sounds like DC is getting off cheap.
DC had an unconstitutional law. Lost in court. Fought it all they way to the Supreme court and lost. Then passed another unconstitutional law to replace the one that the Supreme Court ruled on.
I wish the NRA, the TSRA, and all the other pro-gun organizations that spent their time and money writing friend-of-the-court briefs would get paid for their troubles.
Since that doesn't seem likely, I'd like to see Heller's lawyers get paid.
As to the $450 an hour calculation, there were a lot more than 1500 hours spent on our side of the case.
It's been years since the ruling went against DC.
Their lawyers have been paid.
Our's haven't.
So...
what hourly rate is fair, for a year's pay, that you will have to struggle for years to collect.
Like I said. DC is getting off cheap.

The people who pay are responsible, they elected the ones who made the law.Lambda Force wrote:It would be even better if the people responsible had to pay out of their pockets instead of stealing money from their victims to pay it.
