Coyotes...again
I know coyotes have been discussed here before, but every situation is different. This happened in a populated, unincorporated area in west Houston. It is in Harris County but not in any city limits. It appears from the article that nothing is going to be done about the coyotes. So what, in ya'lls opinion, is our legal right if it happens to me? (I live VERY close by)

Re: Coyotes...again
Vigilance is suggested. So what do you do when you see them?

Re: Coyotes...again
I live in a small, unincorporated subdivision sandwiched between Ft Worth and Keller. About 6 years ago, coyotes had been yipping up a storm in our backyards, and pets had come up missing
At an HOA meeting, we asked the Sheriff's Deputy what could be done about the Coyote Problem.
"Just shoot 'em".
Got real quiet in the room then.
After that, I never heard coyotes again. The wife said she thought she heard gunshots one night.

Re: Coyotes...again
I live less than two miles from Downtown Fort Worth and we have started seeing them, and hearing them at night. Take this for what it is worth, but you don't hear many stories of folks shooting coyotes that end with ".....and the person was charged with...."
I would (and will) shoot 'em if they threaten me, my family, or pets.

You know, I haven't heard any in years, but lately the cats have acted spooky and stared out the back patio door a lot at night.
I might have to buy a game cam.

Re: Coyotes...again
From what I understand coyotes are not dumb animals. If they see one or two of their pack members go down they'll vacate the area never to return. That's just what I've heard though. I've only dispensed of one in my lifetime and that was during a deer hunt. The sucker kept circling me so I ended his existence.

I sure wish that pigs would leave an area after seeing a few of their own knocked down. We are knee deep in them.
If the 2nd admendment only applies to muskets and muzzle-loaders, then the 1st admentment must apply only to the spoken or printed word. Printing must be done on hand presses, news stories must be written in longhand, no keyboards or electric processes may be used.

I suspect that coyotes are too smart to try.Rex B wrote:Hmmmm Do coyotes eat pigs?StewNTexas wrote:I sure wish that pigs would leave an area after seeing a few of their own knocked down. We are knee deep in them.

Maybe if everyone sets out some feral pork for the coyotes, they'll develop a taste for it.The Annoyed Man wrote:I suspect that coyotes are too smart to try.Rex B wrote:Hmmmm Do coyotes eat pigs?StewNTexas wrote:I sure wish that pigs would leave an area after seeing a few of their own knocked down. "I want the coyotes out of here. I want to have protection for our children and our pets. This means we can't let our kids come out for a moment or our pets into our back yard. This is ridiculous," said McCallister.

Re: Coyotes...again
Somehow, I don't think the Texas Parks and Wildlife official quoted in the original article was advocating shooting them.
Right idea though!
