Texas Sen. John Cornyn will likely grill Attorney General Eric Holder today on what he knows of a possible Texas-based gun-trafficking scheme involving use of tactics similar to those employed in Operation Fast and Furious.

Holder is appearing this morning before Cornyn and other members of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Agents from ATF have told Congress their agency "suffers from a lack of effective enforcement tools," and a "critical first step should be for congressional leaders to work with us to provide ATF with the resources and statutory tools it needs to be effective," Holder said.
"Unfortunately, earlier this year the House of Representatives actually voted to keep law enforcement in the dark when individuals purchase multiple semi-automatic rifles and shotguns in Southwest border gun shops," Holder added.

I have heard the theory that our government allowed those guns to “walk” to Mexican cartels to stage “proof” that most guns used by the cartels came from the U.S. in order to justify more restrictive gun laws. I didn’t want to believe it. Now with the reporting directive of the ATF I am starting to believe it may be possible.

Operation “Fast and Furious” should be investigated completely and if there is any truth to that theory, the architects of the scheme and the ones directing it should serve long prison sentences.

I still don’t want to believe this is the case, but some of the recent things our government has done and not done has caused me to lose confidence in our “leaders”.
