I'm not trying to be a pain in the butt, btw, just trying to have a civil discussion. Also I probably wouldn't OC very much even if it were legal. The thing is though, that there is at least one documented case of an OCer stopping a robbery simply by being in the building

link is to the story about the two guys at a waffle house that OC and stop the robbery because the robbers didn't want to rob the place till they left.

This story confirms what criminals have said in interviews. They choose targets that will present the least resistance. There's no question that if those robbers had entered the store with guns blazing, they could have taken out the two armed good guys. But they almost certainly would have suffered casualties. So they chose to wait until the armed GGs left, so they could rob the place with less risk.

I know people have been pushing for open carry here in Texas and I hope it passes,but as for me no way.I want it to be a surprise if I ever have to take it out.Who knows? some bad dude could say to himself:Hey thats a nice looking pistol on that guys hip,I want it. See my point.

That happened in Wisconsin. We discussed it in this thread.

The difference between that incident and the one linked in this thread is that the guy that was OCing in Wisconsin wasn't alert. He was in white when he should have been in yellow and then gone to orange and red (and maybe black.)

But in order for my Texas CHL to be right (address updated), I had to get a Kentucky DL. Sent a copy of Ky DL to Texas, CHL updated with new address. Then another updated Tx CHL (within a week )was sent to me with new Ky DL number on it. That I didn't have to initiate.

I spent 22 years in the AF and never gave up my TX driver's license, but I didn't have a CHL then, either.

You could have just done a change of address. DPS has (or at least had) no problem putting an out of state address on a TXDL.

You don't have to give up TX residency because of a PCS. You should have been able to keep your TX CHL as a TX resident.

Correct...my apologies.

Unless something has changed, you can keep your original state of residence. I would do it in this instance, especially, just on the fact that TX does not pay income tax. KY does.

That's my understanding as well. You can keep your legal residence the same regardless of where you're stationed. DPS has no problems with out of state mailing address for students and military.

NO. That is not what the BG's say. All definitive evidences says that carrying concealed is more likely to put you in the BG;s sights.

Personally I think both have their uses.
