Ima break out a Dallas Cowboy saying for the Army/Navy game. Maybe next time.....that's good to know about the waiting time. I was the first soldier my instructor had and he didn't know much about how our licensing works compared to civilians. GO ARMY!!!! :txflag: :patriot:

not familiar with the saying..?

yeah, I was wondering about the wait time for AD was too. It doesn't make sense to me at all.. we go through a background check before we can get in the military. check. most of us get some type of clearance. check. and buying any type of firearm we get screened again. check. that's a minimum of 3 BG checks and they want to do another one for the CHL? no wonder we have no more money. :banghead:

I guess we can't be too safe with all the BG checks.. look at the looney at Fort Hood. (RIP our fallen Brothers and Sisters :patriot: )

I'm just happy that Texas is a "shall issue" state and I can exercise my right as an American Citizen.. My homestate is full of love, peace, happiness, and toyota prii. "rlol"

Well no update yet. I am still in Manufacturing. I wander how long it can take at this point to go to mailed? It seems like most go from Manufacturing two mailed in one day.

Like noosh, I seemed to have stalled for a day or two at "Manufacturing." IIRC, I checked Wed after hours and that's when it moved to "Manufacturing." Still there Sat AM.

Here's my chrono so far:
Online Application 9/1/11
Class Completed 10/1/11
Packet Mailed 10/2/11
Fingerprints Taken 10/6/11
Fingerprints: Complete 10/12/11
Background Completed: 10/18/11
Manufacturing Pending (10/19/11)
Manufacturing (10/20/11)

I thought I'd have it Mon/Tues; likely Wed or so now. So about 3 weeks from my last item that had to be submitted (fingerprints). Still not bad for gubmint work. I moved to TX eight years ago, and the speed and transparency (e.g., we can get day-to-day status of the CHL process) of TX state and local govt, compared to 3-4 jurisdictions I dealt with in the Northeast, is pretty remarkable.

GIJoe: I didn't apply 'military' (could've: 22 yr retiree), but I do hold a high clearance (sr civ service with a fed agency now) and it doesn't seem to have changed the speed at which these things proceed.

I got mine and did the Wally Walk about 20 minutes after I got it out of the envelope. It felt all sorts of weird carrying out in public. I was VERY nervous about it, I felt like I was doing something wrong. Now that I have carried it for a few days I feel a lot better about it. Now my wife is tired of me asking her if she needs me to go to the store for anything.

Well talk to DPS on Friday and they said that they had a problem printing my CHL. The said that they had to print it in a different way and that it would probably get in the mail by Monday. They said I should have it in about one week. I wander if they are having the same problem with yours.

Hello all. New here. So here's my status thus far:

Chl class 10/8
Online app completed 10/12
Mailed everything certified on 10/13(Dps recieved 10/15 @ 12:35)
Fingerprints complete 10/17

Status still says:

License Status: Application processed online. Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page.

Any ideas?? A friend of mine mailed hers a few days after I and hers has a detailed update and says background check in progress.

Reason for edit: Dps recieved packet on 10/15 not 10/17 as I had stated.

Welcome,

Give it a week, they wont start on shuffling your app around and posting it received online until everything is in. It took a week for it to post, from the day DPS took custody of my materials. Id say tomorrow is likely to be good for you. This part is the most fun of the ordeal because you get to memorize your DL number and can read every post on this forum while you wait. I'm almost done with "General Discussions" myself
