Rare that I don't carry (at least) 3 guns (more than 3 if going to church) But, it's rare that I carry more than 7 at a time to church or anywhere, though to illustrate to some Academy rookies 30 years ago, I'd conceal 25 to 30 guns and play hide and seek
(I have only 1 hand so reloading is slow. For me, it's faster to grab gun #2 than to reload, but same may be true if you get an injured hand or adrenaline shakes)
I might carry only two guns if I'm going somewhere I know I'll have to disarm to go in; like a Court or something.

currently:
xd45 or glock 26 as primary
AMT Backup 380 as Bug #1
DB380 or Seecamp .32 as BUG #2

After my new Duluth Trading Co pants with the 12" deep front pockets arrive (shipped today) {Reviewer says he conceals Glock 22 front pocket .... these are deeper pockets than the 5.11 pants

xd45 as primary

Glock 26 or DB9 or PT709 as Bug #1

DB9 or PF9 as Bug #2
I almost always have 3 (at least)
Is there a 4th gun?..... see last line of my signature.

Yeah, in the winter I'll usually carry a S&W 642 in an ankle holster as a BUG.

Usually don't carry a backup when wearing shorts in the summer, since the best way to carry it then is in a pocket ani I carry enough other stuff that I need the pocket space.

If one carries a Glock, is a BUG necessary?

 only if the baseplate pops off the mag and you'd rather have a spare Glock than a spare mag, ...or one has marine spring cups and you want to shoot one snake on land and a shark about to eat your kayak underwater too. :smilelol5:

Just grabbed an LCP last night. Now I have a 442 and the LCP. I need a new belt though.

Perhaps if it's a hubby/wife team (LEO + CHL Spouse, or 2 CHLs) and one isn't carrying, the other might carry 2 Glocks, otherwise, Only if someone allows their primary to get away from them ;-)

Personally, I do it more for convenience, so anywhere I reach for my "wallet and phone" on the side away from the robber; I'm good.

Glock with spare mags.....No back up

Some folks carry only one gun??? With a BUG I can leave a gun in the car with my wife if she's not going into the store with me.

It's never a bad idea to have more than one gun. Should always have one with you if you can't have one with you at all times.
