Texas Rangers 2011 Post Season Thread
Well folks, looks like we didn't need Cliff Lee as much as some might have thought.
We're going to the ALCS for the second straight year and only four more wins away from our second ever World Series birth in as many years.
I for one couldn't be happier!
So now all we have to do is see what happens with the Tigers vs Yankees series to see who we'll be going against for the pennant.
What match-ups would you like to see?

Re: Texas Rangers 2011 Post Season Thread
I was about to start this very thread. . . I'm one of the addicts who watches every pitch of the season.
I'm glad the other ALDS is going to game 5. I actually fear this Detroit team more than this Yankees team, but I won't profess to prefer one or the other. . . we may get an unfortunate dose of what we ask for if we go down that road.
Beating the Yankees is always sweet, but so would getting revenge on this Tigers team for two reasons:
1) They whooped the Rangers during the 2011 regular season
2) In 2001, I took my girlfriend (now wife) to the game linked here and to this day I use it as a benchmark for explaining life as a Rangers fan (look at the box score! It was painful.):
http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes ... 8080.shtml
Yes, the Tigers scored 13 runs in the 9th inning. We stayed until the last out. Why? Because we were Rangers fans. My girlfriend (now wife) asked if we should go, since there were fewer than 100 fans left by the end of the slaughter. I said, "No. We should stay here and watch this. Soak it in. Remember how it feels. Hope to be one of the few to see an historic come-from-behind win. If not, then recall this one day down the road when they win a World Series. The bandwagon fans won't be able to understand what a championship means to us, and we won't be able to explain it, but we stayed loyal even through days like this."
Regardless, we should all hope for an 18-inning game 5!

I was trying to figure out how a Texas Law Enforcement agency had a "post-season".

I wish I could watch every pitch of every game but having been working 80-100 hrs a week for the past 2 1/2 yrs to pay off a credit card(Finally done btw) didn't exactly leave a lot of time for watching ball games.
I will be keeping a closer eye on the post season though seeing as how I can pick and choose which days I work OT now.

A lot of DVR and heavy use of the 10-second skip button (perfect for between pitches) on most nights. . . blow through commercials, pitching changes, intentional walks, and innings when they're mailing it in. Plus, it's really the only TV we watch in our house.MedicMan218 wrote:I won't pretend to be the fan that you are.fickman wrote:I was about to start this very thread. . . I don't discriminate against fellow fans.
The only downside of winning is that I miss the years of having the ballpark to myself and being able to sit anywhere and spread out! That's a small cost for the fun of the postseason.

That's easy. My daughter, who is an Arlington cop, works at a lot of the Rangers games (like other Arlington cops) for some extra part-time money. Since they're going to the playoffs, she's now going into post-season part-time pay.Purplehood wrote:I was trying to figure out how a Texas Law Enforcement agency had a "post-season".
