Another couple of weeks but I am still a happy camper. I just purchased a firearm yesterday, do you think that had anything to do with it getting updated today?

Re: August 2011 Applications
Did my Wally Walk this morning. Had to go alone wife ended up having to go to work. I was surprised how quickly I forgot I was wearing it as I went about my way . No issues in the rest room. I made a trip even though I did not have to go. Which was a good idea, I found out that I need to order a gun belt ASAP. I bought everything off of my wife's list and some .40 and 9mm ammo. It went off with out a hitch. This whole Concealed carry business sure make you a lot more aware of your surroundings.

Re: August 2011 Applications
I won't bug you about pics since I haven't posted any either. I usually just make my Walmart trips on my way home from work, not on special outings with the wife.Tx_XDm wrote:Did my Wally Walk this morning
Once I was able to start carrying, I finally understood what people are talking about when they say carrying is supposed to be "comforting, not comfortable." I definitely do feel a new level of comfort that I can protect myself if anything goes awry.
And I'm also in the market for an inexpensive gun belt.

Nothing for me today, either. My husband (DH=dear husband) got his yesterday. I thought for sure today. Nope. Bummer.

Re: August 2011 Applications
I don't understand this, we were all allegedly mailed the same day. Those of us who received ours are nowhere geographically close to each other. No rhyme or reason to this process at all.

I've spent a lot of money on guns, bullets and holsters.... The rest I've just squandered away!

Re: August 2011 Applications
The only thing I can think of is that there is a certain time of day they send someone out to the post office to drop them off. Lets say that is 1pm. If yours gets from Mnfgr to the mailing office after that it will have to wait for the next load to get dropped off.

Re: August 2011 Applications
After all the waiting and thinking I am finding myself feeling unprepared. I really don't have a good CCW. I do have a Beretta 9mm but is it full size and really won't work IWB. I plan on adding to the collection and have been telling myself to wait till I get the plastic. But if I wait till I get the plastic, then I have to get a holster and it will be several weeks before I make the Wally Walk. With all our new walkers here maybe a suggestion could come my way on a good size .40 or 9mm and holster...

Re: August 2011 Applications
My only guess is that maybe in the dps mail room they may have bundle the mail per technician and maybe will only send mail if the amount of mail per technician reached a certain quota. Maybe "mailed" mean sent to the mail room. Has anyone who have not received their chl call and verified the mailing address? I thought I read somewhere on this forum that some people had their chl sent to their work place.
I'm still shopping for a good IWB holster and a smaller CCW.

Re: August 2011 Applications
I'm new to this whole concealed carry business, so I don't have much experience to go on. My suggestion is to pick out what you want; if you're going to buy local, wait to get the CHL unless you have an unbelievable deal you can't pass up; if buying online, wait until you get the CHL or try to time it so you have the CHL by the time the gun arrives at your FFL for pick up. Many FFLs also have a CHL discount.Grapevinebill wrote:After all the waiting and thinking I am finding myself feeling unprepared. I really don't have a good CCW. You can get by with a $10 Blackhawk nylon holster while you wait for your dream holster to come in the mail.
Here's my short list for .40 or 9mm CCW:
9mm in order of my perceived concealability:
- Kel-Tek PF9 (small, thin, cheap)
- Kahr PM9 or CM9
- Glock 26
- Springfield XDm 3.8" Compact 9mm (what I bought, currently has a mail-in for 3 extra mags)
- S&W M&P 9mm compact (I perceive it to be a little fatter than the XDm)
- Glock 19 (I'd personally buy this before I bought a G26) -- Would have been my 1st choice for a 1st 9mm, but I shoot the XDm better.
.40 in order of my perceived concealability:
- Glock 27
- Springfield XDm 3.8" Compact .40
- Glock 23 (my favorite .40 cal)
