Looking for AR-15 Assembly Help
Anyone in the Grapevine, Lewisville, Coppell area willing or able to help a newbie out with the assembly of a new lower receiver? I bought two of the PSA lowers and two parts kits, but I've never worked on them before. If you've got the tools and the experience, I want to learn.
I'd be happy to compensate you with a box of ammo, and/or a trip to the Dallas Pistol Club as my guest.

Not that this is as good as having a person, but both Midway USA and Brownells have AR-15 assembly videos, step by step stuff.

Thanks for the tip. If I don't find someone local to help out, I'll figure it out that way.

Re: Looking for AR-15 Assembly Help
If you were in the Houston area, we could have a lower building party. I haven't received my PSA lower yet anyway.
I'm not an expert, have only done it once before, but I used this guide:
http://www.ar15.com/content/guides/assembly/lower/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Having someone locally with a good set of tools would definitely be helpful though.

Re: Looking for AR-15 Assembly Help
Keith, I've built a number of them. Simple work, basic tools, just a few things to be careful of.

I use the AR15.com guide linked above, even now after doing quite a few.

Re: Looking for AR-15 Assembly Help
If you want to drive to East Texas, we can have a lower building party. I ordered 3 addl lowers today and have some other parts in shipment. CMMG has a special on lower parts kits right now where they will pay the postage. They are good kits with the standard trigger or with upgrades. You can build with a minimum of parts, but roll pin punches, pivit pin tools and roll pin starters are helpful. My roll pin starters and pivot pin are homemade in my lathe and have seen use for a long time. I use a special pair of vice grips with plastic jaws that I have had around for 30. years--never seen any like them.
