That's the fastest I've seen in my short time on the forum. Is anyone keeping track if that is a new record?
Back in September 2010 I had to get a license from DPS to sell/install security alarms and cameras. I wonder if that sped things up? My BG check only took 2 days.

Based on the "waiting room" threads it varies greatly.

Probably also helps if you've been in one place for a while. If you've lived in a couple of different areas, thats several different guys that have to poke around your record.

I am playing the waiting game and I have to say it's a bit frustrating. According to the US Post Office my package was delivered in Austion on 9/2. The DPS web site has my status as waiting on delivery. Any day now would be good...

On line app - 08/02
L1 Fast Prints taken - 08/08
CHL Class - 08/30
Packet Mailed - 08/31
Packet Received in Austin - 09/02 (Friday of Labor Day weekend)
DPS web site is still unchanged as of 9/9

It took them one full week to get my packet status changed. Once that happened everything else went fairly fast.

I had just moved back to Texas from Indiana. In Indiana my residence hadn't changed in over 10 years and I do have an Indiana carry license. Whether that help speed things up I have no idea. On the Indiana application they ask if you have a license issued by another state and its number. Was kind of surprised that wasn't also on the Texas application.

I submitted my application online on Sept. 10, 2011. Mailed the information on Sept. 11th. After trying to get a fingerprint appointment all week, I finally called the CHL office. I got an email with the trace number but that number is NOT in the system. Some glitch apparently occurred on Sat. and some (or all) of the applications entered on that day did not get completely processed. The IT group has to do something to get my information into the system. They said it may take a week and then I can schedule a fingerprinting session. This is not off to a good start. Hopefully it will go smoother after this is taken care of.

If you submitted on Sept. 10, 2011 and cannot schedule a fingerprint session you may need to call the CHL number (512) 424-7293.

I'll be submitting all my stuff on 10/6 after I take my class...

I've resigned myself to checking until I see they have recieved the packet (which should be a week or less considering I live in Austin) and then not looking at it for at least a month - nothing is going to happen anyway and watching for status to change just adds to the frustration. Maybe I'll get lucky and it will even show up before I go look at the status again. Probably not, but who knows...

My wife and I did our renewal on sunday sept. 25th. She had her license in hand in 27 days. Mine shows mailed as of yesterday (sat. Oct. 29th) so I should get it in the mail one day next week.

Got my renewal 41 days after they received my paperwork. Not bad, but not good either. It should take no more than 48 hours to print and mail a renewal.
