So, a question to divert us while we wait. Concealed carry has been a privilege in Texas for many years. Why are you in the August/Sept waiting rooms just now getting yours? DH and I have been married a number of years. We were poor students for the first few. Then we lived out of state for a while. Now we are back and excited to seize our privileges as Texans. I'd like to hear your stories. :bigear:

Kinda the same story as you. I am a poor 22 year old college student and have finally put the money and time aside to go take the class. I kept telling myself that as soon as I turn 21 I'm gonna get in line, but things never happen that way. I'm just glad that I finally set aside the time.

Well as far as me, I grew up in a family of hunters and our Dad (6 0f us) made sure he taught us all how to shoot ang gave us the opportunity to get involved. I took the route of competitive shooting after huntig for several years. I actually started shooting competive .22 rifle at the age of 12. I was lucky enough to attend a high school that had a rifle team and shot until I was 22 years old. Guess how old I was when I got married? Yes, 22 .... Well, after a long talk with one of my brothers who is an avid hunter and owns 14 hang guns I decided it was time to pick up a gun. I brought my rifle to a gun smith to be reworked and tuned up, and I caught the bug. That was this spring, and I really can't believe I ever stoped shooting. It had been 30 years that my rifle sat in a case and not a round throuhg it. Since then I purchased 2 handguns and have started the process we are all in here for. Do you know how much time and money I wasted on golf in the lsat 15 years?

:txflag:
I've spent a lot of money on guns, bullets and holsters.... The rest I've just squandered away!

Me, I'm just getting too old to effectively run my way out of trouble any more. So I need an alternative solution in case they catch me.

Well 15 days after I turned 18 I left for Basic Training and AIT. When I got back I looked into it but I didn't see the point in getting a CHL if I couldn't buy a handgun. So a year later, about 2 months ago, I looked into it again turns out I could own a handgun just not buy one from an FFL. I love Texas laws. :txflag:

So here am I and I'm waiting. Hopefully it's in my mailbox today!

Was all set to do it years ago and was told by a lawyer friend and cop friend that I really didn't have to because I could have it in the car with me anyway. Saw crime stats climbing here in San Antonio and decided I wanted to carry full time so I took the class.

Random diversion: I was just singing the Texas state song for my daughter (long story) and I clicked on this link for calliope/accordian accompaniment http://www.lsjunction.com/song.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (don't click if you are at work!). I learned this song in elementary school and have remembered it 30 plus years. Just found out that there are 3 verses though. Who knew?!

I checked at 1:30 nothing, some other letters, but not the only thing I care about. I'm getting sad. It needs to be here tomorrow!

Thanks for posting that! I knew about the state song, not all the verses though, and I knew the flower. I did not know about the tree, insect, or gemstone.
