Yogo SKS at Cabelas

#1

Post by Beiruty »

Cabelas hos dozens of Yogo SKS for sale a $279. It is tempting considering some are in very good condition. If you inspect and choose the one with least dings and scratches, you may find a good starter rife with cheap ammo and great history.

Now how do those shoot? Are they accurate at 100-200 with open sites?

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, I bought one there for 350.00 awhile back. Anytime I buy something I find it cheaper later on. Anyway I can keep the rounds in the area between a saucer and dinner plate at 100 yards with iron sights and I cant clearly see the target it is just an orange blurry spot.

I had a Norinco till last week. It did well. Kind of wishing I didn't sell it. But this cheers me up. Seems like a pretty good price.

That's a pretty decent price, about what you'll find online from places like J&G.

How accurate are you looking for? I've been looking into getting one and they sound pretty similar to a Ruger Mini in accuracy. That is, more accurate than an AK, less than an AR, and good enough in most cases. This is second all second hand that I've read while researching them, I've never fired one. You can get a Techsight rear that is an easy install and increase the sight radius. The Survivor SKS message board has more info than you'll ever need.

Yugo sks do not have chromed barrels, so be sure to clean and oil it immediately after shooting it.

I have a Norinco SKS Paratrooper and a Russian SKS and neither one are as accurate as my Norinco AK. The only accurate ammo I've found for any of them is Sellier & Bellot and it seems to have gotten hard to find in 7.62x39.

:iagree: My Norinco MAK90 is amazingly accurate.

With the prices SKS are getting up to these days, I'd say its worth a few bucks more to spring for some kind of AK.

If they were still 150-200, they'd be a great deal.

I have to agree with this . . . I've looked at SKS rifles, and really don't think they're worth the ~$300 that's being asked. At least not to me.

I can remember years ago walking into a gun store where the owner had a pile of SKS in a barrel (kind of like how you see some Mosins now) for $100 each. Racks of AKs for $185 each. Wished I'd have bought one or two then, but I was young and didn't have much income. $100 was a LOT of money to me then.

Cheaper to just buy an AK.

The sks modified for the AK mags have a lot of reliability issues. Especially for what they want for em now..if you want 30 round mags get an AK
