Problems with DPS receiving fingerprints

#1

Post by Carl in Katy »

Is anyone else having problems with DPS not receiving electronic fingerprints? Contacted L1, they state that the fingerprints have been sent to DPS. Contact DPS, they state they are having a "computer glitch" and that hundreds (not just mine, they assure) of fingerprints are behind a "wall" and that IT has to pull them from behind this wall one by one. :confused5 Sounds like a crock of crap to me. If this isnt happening to any others, then I will just assume that it is only DPS jacking with me. My tax dollars hard at work!! :banghead: Is there someway I can get my money back???

WOW! Look at ALL the people that this problem is happening to. (that's called sarcasm, DPS) Thanks again DPS, for really giving ME the treatment. Don't get too close to me, ladies and gentlemen, some stink may rub off on you.

After two phone calls today to DPS (1st one waited 14 minutes only to have them cut me off), I called right back and waited another 12 minutes to have a guy named Rene' a CSR get on the phone and tell me my prints were also behind "THE WALL" and that it would take several weeks because this wall will only let them pull prints one at a time. Emails went unanswered, page status has been same since 07-29-2011. TOTAL bull

Even with all these problems, average turnaround time for new licenses is less than half what it was a few years ago.

Mailed the completed CHL class application on June 25th. Completed L1 Fingerprints on June 28th. Status STILL says waiting on fingerprints! I have sent 2 emails with no response, and keep getting the same story from customer service that a large number had a computer glitch. I gave them the TCN number I got as confirmation from L1, in hopes that they would know to look for mine and it wouldn't get lost in the heep of lost souls. Every time I have called (6 times since July 8th) they tell me a week and they will have it all fixed. Do we have any recourse or do we just have to sit and deal with this delay for some of us?

No. You shouldnt have any problem, people after us are going right on through. When I mentioned others on this forum after us are getting their plastic, the guy basically called you guys liars. I said I dont have any reason to not believe the other forum members. He assured me that you are lying. So, anyone with fingerprints taken after July 8, 2011, is lying about receiving a CHL according to DPS.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone asked if you could retake and resubmit your prints, even at an additional $9.95, if you are stuck behind "the wall"? If the prints are the only thing holding you up, it might work. Just a thought...

Tried saying that... No help. To analogize: I am in the supermarket checkout line that just had a scanner break down and they wont let me change to another lane. But if anyone comes up behind me, they will accept them in a the lane that is working. They tell me I have to wait for the scanner to be repaired... but they wont or cant tell me how long that will be, just to " please be patient". Problem is, they already have my money!

Your analogy makes perfect sense. I see their reason, but disagree with their solution.

Wife and I got fingerprinted last Thursday. Hers were rejected - she received an email from L1 that DPS didn't like them. This was no suprise as 5 or 6 were rejected by the scanner. She goes again tomorrow for another try. We are both listed in the database as "waiting on fingerprints." Not sure if L1 rejected the prints before they got to DPS, or if DPS really did receive the prints and they kicked them back. Sigh..
