If they did ask for ID, you would present it and be asked to leave the premises per 30.06 (a)(2)(B) . So leave.

If they arrested you claiming you had received notice per 30.06 (a)(2)(A), they would have to prove that you had been given effective notice under 30.06 (a)(2)(A) and, being that you entered through one of the many unmarked/improperly marked doors, they would not be able to prove that. Could they arrest you? Yes, they could. But, if your goal in life is to never be arrested, then you better lock yourself in a closet and never come out (and for heaven's sake, don't even think about carrying a gun!).

I believe you took my sentence out of context. I was responding to Dave2's statement "If the CHL holder is doing their job, the officer couldn't arrest them because s/he wouldn't know there was a gun at all". I was simply pointing out that there are situations where that is not the case.

After a while, the closet would become so nasty that they'd arrest you for creating a bio-hazzard. :biggrinjester:

Not sure about you, but that sure is one of my life goals. If you are looking to get yourself arrested for legally carrying a gun, then maybe you shouldn't carry. :headscratch

My point being...

People worry too much about things that have virtually no chance of ever happening. The statistical probability of carrying a gun past a non-compliant sign (or a door with no sign at all), being found out, being questioned and being (falsely) arrested instead of being asked to leave is astronomically LOW. In the million to one chance that it did happen, you would spend a few hours in the can and be realeased. Man up and deal with it. Otherwise, leave the gun at home.

Mine too. I've been successful so far, but I'm only about halfway through.

Could they prove that ... possibly. Video surveillance is quite prevalent at retail entrances and exits.

As a hotel, it is your 'residence' for the length of your paid stay; so you can carry there. At least, that's what my last CHL class said.
Or is just the waterpark part posted? (not that you'd have an easy time CHL-ing while riding waterslides)

I think it would be as legal as no smoking signs in rooms or a policy prohibiting alcohol on premises.

I think this is why there are so many "in theory, the law says <blah blah>, but there haven't been any court cases on it yet" scenarios with regard to CHLs... Not only are we relatively few in number, but our relevant actions are, by definition, concealed.

I have it on good authority that a CHL holder who always carries was with his wife who wanted to shop there. Waiting for her to come out of a crowded store (said individual is claustrophobic) he leaned against a counter and chatted with a GVPD officer for a good 15 minutes. No second looks, no questions, no indications that the officer noticed or cared...or so I heard.

Couldn't you make that same argument for carrying a gun in the first place??
The odds of ever needing a gun for protection are also extremely low. (Thank God)

Personally, I worry more about the complications that could be added to my case if I needed to use my gun for protection at this mall or other venues with similar issues regarding questionable signs. Getting caught carrying randomly is much less of a concern. "Concealed means concealed."

But if I had to protect myself, instead of my action being clearly labeled "self defense" or a "justifiable shoot", it may get ugly criminally and civilly. That scares me WAAAY more than just having to beat the ride...

Excellent point! The very reason I carry a gun is because there is a 1 in however many chances that I may one day need it. It may be 1 in 100 and it may be 1 in 10,000...or whatever. I can't see anyone mounting an effective defense on the premise that, "There was virtually no chance of me getting caught, so I think I should get away with it".

Maybe I am mis-informed... Are there still entrances at that mall that are not marked, not properly and/or mis-marked?

Not one entrance is properly posted. The main entrances to the mall are posted with old, incorrectly by today's law, sign. I don't think any of the other individual store entrances are posted at all.

I took these pics a year or so ago at Katy Mills Mall (same owner and format as GVM... almost exactly the same mall).

Here pics of the signs at the entrances... however, the anchor stores have no signs (Bass Pro, etc.).

I didn't have a tape measure, so I used a 5 dollar bill for reference. The capital letters go to this point on a 5 dollar bill.

Then, when I put a tape measure up to the 5 dollar bill, you can see it's well short of one inch, making the sign invalid, right?
