background check waiting times.

if you had to say an average of how long it takes for the background check to complete, what would it be? there seems to be a range of times reported and i just thought it would benefit me and some other people around here if we put our times and best guesses in one place.
my fingerprints cleared a few days ago. i know the say 60 days but i think most people get their background cleared well before that.

My BG took about 70 days with not so much as a traffic ticket.

what? surely you called them and they were like "oh, this is our fault. we had a glitch in the system. it'll be out tomorrow," right?
i've had about 50 different stamps on my passport over the past 10 or so years so who knows how long they're gonna look at me.

I did call, four times. The first time was two weeks after submission to update my address and check that everything arrived. Then 6 weeks in I called because it was still at background check and I thought it was weird, they said it was normal. At 8 weeks, same thing "it's normal but slow". I researched average waiting time here and then got concerned. I called again a couple days later and was told to call back after 60 days, to which I replied that it was already past 60 days. The technician said he would send an email to "check the status". Then another 10 days or so the BG was complete.

I was pretty ticked off about it because I'm active duty and could not return to Texas to take the renewal course. They've already done the background on me (for my first CHL), as have the Feds. If I would have returned a few months earlier, I would have renewed rather than reapplied!

Oh well, it shipped two days ago.

PS...I doubt foreign travel has anything to do with it. I could be wrong but I assume they are more than likely looking for felony convictions or domestic disputes. I would hope that the State Dept and the rest of the Feds stay out of Texas' business. If not, we got bigger problems...
