...reminds me of an old war song "...praise the Lord, and pass the ammunition...praise the Lord, we ain't a'goin' fishin..."those lyrics are jumbled up, but that's the way we sung it in La...sober, even...

The NRA posted a link on their Facebook page and I am rather disturbed at reading the thoughts of some of our supposed "friends" of the 2nd Amendment. One such sterling example was considering anybody that couldn't go without carrying at church a redneck... my response:

"For those of you decying carrying in church, do a little reading on the New Life Church and Wedgewood Baptist Church killings. Even in the house of God, we can be attacked by the wolves. If it is redneck to want to maintain a means of securing the safety of my family, me and fellow believers at my chosen place of worship, then give me a Budwesier and a Number 3 NASCAR shirt"

I don't know if it has been socializing with you fine folks here but I'm having a hard time understanding how some folks logically conclude that there are places where people should not have a means to protect themselves. It's not even Biblically sound. :headscratch

One of my friends is on staff at Wedgewood Baptist, and I'm building his website for him. One of the audio testimonies which will be downloadable from the site is from one of the wounded victims of that shooting who survived.

...in a crowded place, like a church, with the threat coming from anywhere...it is very crucial that we carry enough gun to be able to make highly accurate shots...play out a few what-ifs in your mind and you'll prolly be willing to carry a full-sized weapon just to insure pinpoint accuracy...I take no comfort from a 2" J when imagining that scenario...but at Wedgewood, he wasn't shielded by anyone...anything they had could have gotten him to stop...what a tragedy...

One of my favorite verses regarding this issue.

Please share it when it is available, I would love to hear it.

Nehemiah 4:13-14
13 Therefore I positioned men behind the lower parts of the wall, at the openings; and I set the people according to their families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows. 14 And I looked, and arose and said to the nobles, to the leaders, and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”

I have tried to carry 24/7 since I got my plastic. At first it seemed a little strange to carry in church, now it feels strange to not carry everywhere!

I had been Methodist for about 15 years, they are very anti-gun, I kinda laughed to myself a little bit every time I carried there (not posted). ;-)

I just couldn't take their politics anymore so my wife and I left and joined a small local church. Unfortunately they just found a new building to use, the local elementary school cafeteria. :grumble

Not only always, but I didn't even take off my gun when I was rebaptized a few years back.
Dang...
And, BTW, my church has a "TABC=Blue" sign, and qualifies for it.

Not only do I always carry at church, but it's one of the main reasons I wanted a CHL. I spend a lot of time there, it's not in a bad neighborhood, but not great either, and we frequently have panhandlers. Some much more cooperative than others. I play bass and carry on the stage. We also occasionally have youth lock-ins, etc. Let's just say I'm almost always a sponsor at those events. In fact I'm on the usher team at church and since we leave our doors locked, I'm watching the front door to let in visitors as I type this. And yes, I'm carrying. ;-)
