Welcome
Normally the status will change at about 2 weeks after DPS receipt of the packet.
after that, give it 2-3 weeks to be completed, but as you will see, some will wait 60 days +, sometimes without any rhyme or reason.

The good thing is, while you are waiting, you have found this forum. There is a wealth of information on here already and many people willing to share their knowledge, should you have any questions you could not find answers to.

Welcome to the forum. We'd love to tell you you'd have your CHL in x amount of days, but the problem is there is absolutely 0 consistency in the process. Some get it in as little as 30 days, and others in 80 days.
But as teamless said, tons of great info here, so make sure you read up while you're waiting. Especially this topic... :biggrinjester:

Thanks. A buddy of mine was telling me about the wally walk, I though he was full of it but I guess he was right. I'll have to take him as my scout.

Welcome to the forum. Yes, waiting is part of the process ... keep checking the DPS web-site; your status will change from time to time. Eventually you will see the "mailed" status ... then the daily mailbox check. I remember it all too well. Carrying legally is worth the wait. Good luck.

I'm new to this forum too, and I too sent all of my CHL info on June 1st. In less than 2 weeks my status changed to everything was received and back ground under review. So now I wait. Why is it so exciting to get this? I'm like a little kid! In the meantime, I need to shop for a smaller pistol to carry in this 100 degree weather.

I think the saying goes - "All good things come to those who wait"

The process is a lot better than it used to be thanks to the electronic fingerprints. The single thing that held up most were the poor fingerprints being sent in. Now you know on the spot they were sent and in a few days if no word you know they were accepted for quality. This is also better because L1 is responsible for contacting you if there is an issue with the prints.

I got an update for you all. Mailed in my packet on 30 May and received CHL on 23 June. Total time for it to come from licking the stamp to in my hand was 24 days. That was lightning fast. :thewave
