When I applied for my CHL, I short sightedly used my address at base housing here in Texas. I have moved out of base housing and am staying with friends, living out of a General Mailing address and a storage unit while I attend various training TDYs around the nation this summer. In the fall I will have a Permanent Change of Station out of state followed by another PCS to New Mexico 6 months later.
I know I need to change my address with DPS. Is there any reason I shouldn't just change it to my military home of record (my dad's home in Ohio) so that I can avoid 4 changes in 8 months? I am already an out of state Texas CHL holder with and have my home of record on my Ohio driver's license. I am an Ohio resident at that address (though I may snag a Texas residence for the taxes before I leave).
Thanks in advance for your advice.

That's what our son (1st Lt. US Army) did. He kept his permanent address as our home, and kept a checking account in our bank (though he uses his USAA account).

I was in the USAF for 22 years. The only time I changed the address on my Texas driver's license was when my parents moved.

Went ahead and changed it to my Dad's home (my home of record) so that should be good for quite a while. The nice people of Texas even waived the fee.

The longer I am in, the more little stuff like that makes a difference. It was a perfect thing that made my day in right in the midst of all the headaches of moving paperwork. Even the US Post Office doesn't have any special deal for those of us who have to move almost every other year. I really do appreciate it.
