Looking for a better gun oil

#1

Post by Sandman »

I bought a new Taurus Tcp a few weeks ago and finally got it broke in. Well I started carrying it full time middle of last week, and after two days of pocket carry all of my gun oil has seems to evaporated off. I work in the oil field and im all ways sweating. Is their a good gun oil that I can use and not have this problem. Thanks for the help in advance.

Mobil 1... [edited]

Actually Mobil 1 is a good gun lubricant, but I use RemOil in a spray to "rust proof".

You may want to check out Eezox, it's a great rust inhibitor and dries after it cures so it may last longer than a regular gun lube. I've switched over to it and have been really happy with it since. ymmv of course! :cheers2:

Have you tried Breakfree CLP? It's good.

You might try Militec-1 or Frog Lube.

I've just started experimenting with Frog Lube and I like it so far.

I've had that issue with the gun oils you pick up in Walmart or Academy, but I haven't used those in years.

Friction Defense from Brownell's is also an excellent oil, but I like Frog Lube even better.

Midway used to carry it, but no more. :???:

Luckily, I ordered a quart of the stuff so I can refill my smaller cans & bottles.

my favorite is weapon shield oil, cleans great has good reviews all over the net, and it smells like peppermint.

with the texas weather during the summer i usually pair weapon shield with militec-1 grease due to the fact that oil tends to evaporate faster.

I usually use the heaviest motor oil I can find, in the 50w class. Currently I am using Mobil 1 15w-50 and it usually hangs onto my SIG for around 2 weeks of carry.

Gunzilla. Wipe it off and the gun still has a dry lube.

I am experimenting with 0W-30 Mobil 1 Synthetic Motor Oil. 6.24 a quart compared to most gun oils that cost around 6.24 for four ounces.

I try not to keep much oil on mine, especially with pocket carry and oilfield work it'll collect a lot of gunk, good ol clp is my friend but I wipe it off until there's barely a layer of oil on there
