A number of years ago my GF at the time flew to Seattle and then drove to Canada in a rent car. I thought they would tear the car apart. I complained and the female guard said your DL shows you are from Texas so I know there is a gun in here somewhere.

Sometime in the mid-1990s he and home drug a travel trailer all over the country.
Decided to cross into Canada at one point, stopped at the customs station while the agent went over pickup and trailer witha fine-toothed comb.
Finally in exasperation, he walked up to dad and said:

"OK, where is it??"
"Where is what?"
"Your gun. All you Texans have a gun somewhere. Where is it?"

I guess he didn't know Dad was a Yankee by birth. :biggrinjester:
My parents had a very similar experience about 15 years ago going into Canada from Michigan. At the time, they were full-time (ok, 3/4 time) RVers. They didn't have a gun with them, either. Didn't even own one. Yeah, they're Yankees, too, and only actually moved into their Texas home permanently about 5 years ago.

A few months ago, I visited friends in Arizona. We went to a shooring range. After watching me shoot, one of them said, "Damn! Is everyone from Texas is a good shot!" I said, "Yep."

He said, " I guess that's why they say, 'Good shootin, Tex.'" I don't know where that phrase came from, but I said, "Yep," reloaded, and continued nailing the target.

I had to uphold the Texas reputation, real or perceived.

A Texan was travelling in Africa and took a taxi to go somewhere.

The African driver spoke some English and asked where the man was
from in America.

When he replied "Texas", the taxi driver broke into a wide grin, made a
gun with his hand, pointed it at the roof of the taxi, and proceeded to make shooting noises!

I was reading this article quietly and just burst out laughing that an African
knows the Texas reputation!!
