Texas Reputation!!
Just came back from a great trip up the east coast to the outer banks.
While we were in Savannah the wife wanted to go to Pala Deens resturant for dinner. Our waiter asked where we were from and my wife told him Texas... He says "Well I know at least one of you are carrying!"
That was good..

I thought that stereotyping was bad.Capt Roy wrote:Just came back from a great trip up the east coast to the outer banks.

Re: Texas Reputation!!
Hey Capt. Roy, I was just up there (sailed a 45' sail from kemah to new york), offshore most of the way but ICW from morehead city to norfolk after a failed cape hatt attempt (I was solo).
You are right about Texas' reputation. When I showed my driver's license at Laguardia, the man saw my CHL behind it and said something like 'Does Texas automatically give those out to all their residents?' I said, 'uhhh yeah, something like that.' Might as well keep the myths going, right ;)
On another note, thanks to Capt Roy for being such a great CHL instructor. I got my 100 ton masters license with him and then a year later, my CHL. I just wonder what he is going to teach me next !

My Dad has never been a gun person, never owned one his whole adult life.
Sometime in the mid-1990s he and home drug a travel trailer all over the country.
Decided to cross into Canada at one point, stopped at the customs station while the agent went over pickup and trailer witha fine-toothed comb.
Finally in exasperation, he walked up to dad and said:
"OK, where is it??"
"Where is what?"
"Your gun. All you Texans have a gun somewhere. Where is it?"
I guess he didn't know Dad was a Yankee by birth.

We crossed over the Canadian border with our RV a couple of years ago. We had heard all kinds of stories from the RV forums about restrictions on alcohol and food and were prepared for them. The border agent asked me if we had any guns (after seeing the Texas address on our passports). When I told her no, she said "do you own any guns" and I said yes but I was familiar with Canadian laws on guns and that all of mine were back in Texas. She let us pass without a search. As we pulled through the area, there were two other RVs there - both were being searched. I didn't get a chance to see what States they were from.

It's on your Texas passport. You have to be a native Texan to have one. Helps us ID the yankees.OCD wrote:You have an address on your passport?chasfm11 wrote:the Texas address on our passports
Gun control is like stopping drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to drive.

My US passport has my place of birth. Maybe that is what he was referring to.OCD wrote:You have an address on your passport?chasfm11 wrote:the Texas address on our passports
