self reporting

I took the class in january, sent all my Docs in on feburary 1ST , everything came back ok except I was in volentary rehab , over five years ago , never had any problem with the law or anything just drank too much going thru divorce . now my paper work is on hold , they need to send me some papers or forums for a doctor to fill out , has anyone had to do this before , do I take them to my regular doctor or do I have to take them to a specalist ? any help would be greatly appriciated , thanks still do not drink today some people can I am just one that can not .

First off, from someone who has been there, good on ya for taking control of your life.

I did recieve the letter from the state medical board , and took it to my doctor he is just my regular doctor . they said in the letter to take it to a doctor that knows the most about you general mental health , which my doctor a pro gun pro carry signed all my paper work and did not even charge me for an vist, sent it back end of last week hopefull will here somthing this week . there recieved all my paper work 2/1/2011 right now I am @ 73 days and counting :smash:

today , my file goes before the texas medical board , hope fully the will approve then send it back to DPS so I can get my lisence issued it has been 95 day since they have recieved my packet . :smash:

one thing I have learned when the question ask IN THE LAST 5 years thats what it means , mine was over 5 years ago and if I would have not listed it they told me that i would already have recieved my plastic ! !!! :tiphat:

IIRC, the online application asks if you have ever received alcohol/drug or psychiatric treatment. I know the statute says 5 years, but the online app asks "ever". A person can be denied for lying on the application, even though if they had answered "yes" they would have eventually gotten approved.

...your being honest is part of your rehab...proud of ya!!! have a son who battled the dragon and won...it takes a lot of grit and determination...

Background Check : Completed
Concealed Handgun License : Manufacturing Pending

it has been 100 days since they recieved my packet . I did take the advise and send an email to Rick Perrys office the DPS called back the next day and told me that it was approved and getting manufactured
