Re: Introduce yourself
For some things you make time. Of course you can combine certain activities. Just be sure no one else is on the range and observe the usual gun safty rules.

Re: Introduce yourself
Howdy!
I am a noob to the world of CHL and self defense. I grew up around the .22s my grandfather let me shoot on his farm. Until I bought my first handgun, I had no experience with them.
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Profession/school status: Sound Reinforcement Engineer, general Audio consultant
Marital status: Married (6 years, one boy nearly 1 yr old and another one due in December)
Years CHL: 1 month?...maybe less...?
Texas State Representative House District: Charles Perry, District 82
Carry guns/equipment: S&W 3914 using either an all leather CBST homemade copy or a leather homemade pancake holster
I enjoy the forum already and look forward to learning so much more about protecting me and mine and about guns in general.

Re: Introduce yourself
Hello to all. Not sure how I did not come across this site before but I am glad to be here now. This would have been a huge asset when I first went thru the CHL application process. Of course now I am waiting for 06/13/2011 for the CHL instructor class in Gerogetown.
Little about me -
I am 40 years old, married with 3 boys (okay they are more like men now). I recently stepped away from the rat race and am now moving on to being self employed. I have been making concealment holsters for friends and family for a few years now. Originally my material of choice was kydex and then moved over to leather to provide a better product. Since then feedback has always been very positive and I stuck with leather crafting.
My EDC is a Glock 30 owb with a Ruger LCR in my front Right pocket. On occassion I will carry my American Classic Commander or a Glock 23. The Mrs also carries and her edc is a G23. I carry a ColdSteel Spartan for my bladed weapon, along with two magazines of 45acp, 2 quickstrips of 38+p, and a quark tactical light. Better to have it and not need it... then to need it and not have it.
I prefer nightsites on carry weapons and have had great results with BigDots on my Commander, and Trijicons on my G30. Not a big fan of weapon mounted lights on a ccw, but that is a personal preference.
I look forward to sharing information and helping where I can.

Re: Introduce yourself
Long time lurker first time poster. In Amarillo gearing up for my class the first weekend in June. Excited to be here but kinda new to the handgun scene. Recently purchased the Springfield XDM 3.8 .40sw and I have a crossbreed in production for this will be my edc. My dad has his chl. I call him the packin pastor. I have to say I have caught the bug and even though I have not been to shoot the XDM I am already ploting my next gun. Anyhow I have already gleaned alot of info and look forward to tons more.

Life-long independent, lone-wolf biker with equal amounts of respect for the MCs and LEO communities. Former US Army Combat Medic, now living the good life out in the glorious Texas hill country near Spicewood, TX. "Live Free or Die" is much more than just a state motto to me.
Probably only put ~400-500 miles on my truck per year, and am otherwise almost always on one of my bikes, which are probably more important to me than my guns. But I'm keeping both, thank you very much. Interested in learning more from other CHL holders who are bikers, and the issues that are unique to CC for daily riders.
Age: 42
Gender: Male
Profession/school status: Technical Writer, defense industry
Marital status: Married for 9 years, no kids, several large Great Danes (best home protection and deterrent imaginable)
Years CHL: Status says "mailed" so hopefully will be here today. Though I've owned and carried in my vehicles/motorcycles for most of my life, but now that I have a security clearance, cannot afford to be arrested for illegally carrying a concealed handgun.
Texas State Representative House District: Pual Workman, District 47
Carry guns/equipment: Springfield XD .45 ACP w/ 5" barrel, will likely mostly carry OWB, beneath t-shirt and ride vest (summer) or motorcycle jacket (cooler weather).
