Didn't see any threads about this so far, apparently this guy heard some noise and presented his weapon and had it taken and was shot with it, police were unsure if it was intentional or an "accident" as part of the struggle. One article I read made it sound as if he was woken up by noise, and another suggested he arrived home to find the burglary in progress. Either way it's a bad situation! My brother used to live in this neighborhood too! Nice neighborhood too! Not sure if this guy was a CHL or not, but either way it's a good reason to go to the range and also get some tactical/hand gun self defense training!!

Please God, don't let the Brady's get ahold of this story. This is one of the arguments they use to limit gun rights—the (untrue) notion that your are more likely to be shot with your own gun than you are likely to defend yourself with your own gun.

The article has been updated to include a statement that the victim's status has "been upgraded to critical". How do you get upgraded to critical? What's that an upgrade from? Terminal? :???:
