I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

A few years back someone put a home-made battery-powered illuminated sign of a cartoon character named Ignignokt on or under a bridge in Boston. The whole city came to a standstill because somebody thought it was a bomb.

Actually, it wasn't one placard under a bridge, but placards all over the city along with Cambridge and Somerville. It was a movie promotional stunt. Turner Broadcasting paid the bill on that one, some $2 million. Something like 30 of the devices were installed.

There were a bunch in LA and some other major city as well. They just realized that the devices weren't bombs and didn't shut down.

Not much in the way of detail.
Probably left there by a photographer, after photographing the overpass.

In Boston they probably call the flashbulb on his camera an IED.
I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.
