My wife CCs - I think all jewelry stores should be posted!

I also had a problem with Jared (Arlington location). I told my wife we were not going in, and we did business else where. I did go to Jareds website and send a message to customer service that read:

"I went to visit one of your Dallas locations today, and was greeted by a sign on your door that stated people legally carrying a concealed firearm were not welcome in your store. I was just wondering why you would not allow someone who has been through a state (DPS) and federal (FBI) background check to enter your store while carrying a concealed weapon? We have gone out of our way to prove we are not criminals. By trying to force close to half a million Texans (who are legally armed) to disarm before entering your store you are costing yourself tons of money. We do not disarm, we simply do not go in. We are not fanatics. We are doctors, lawyers, police officers and school teachers (to name a few) who wish to protect our families from harm. If you look real close, I believe you will find that the people you are alienating with your policies are the same people your ads are marketing to. I (as well as close to half a million law abiding Texans) have vowed to not spend a dime at a location that does not allow us to be safe while shopping in their store. Jared has been included on my list of places I will not frequent. In case you are wondering about demographics - I am in my 30's, I am married and have a yearly income of more than 200K. Aside from legally carrying a firearm to protect myself and my family I think I am the customer you want in your stores."

Will it do any good? Alone probably not, but if they got 30 or 40 thousand more just like it, perhaps it would bend an ear or two.

I sent a very similar letter, got a form letter follow-up, and then sent them copies of receipts for several $1K+ purchases from other stores. Probably won't do any good, but you never know.

They are foreign owned (UK), so appealing to their sense of respect for American civil rights is probably futile. Appealing to their greed is much more likely to work.

as a Geologist/Mineralogist/Stone Cutter, Jared's are one of the most overpriced jewelery stores in town. If you and your ladyfriend are looking for good stuff, go to a small mom and pop's dealer....They all carry the same crap but the smaller shops always have unique items.
