Never break any of the four rules no matter where you are.
The habit of obeying them at all times must be ingrained into your mind for your sake and others. Even police officers who handle guns far more than the average citizen make mistakes. We all do. Encourage others to follow these rules as well. I often tell the salesmen who hand me guns nonchalantly that they are setting an example to the newbies who come in--a bad one.

I guess the best to hand over a pistol with a trigger lock all the time. Why, handing over a handgun to a thief who will just stick a mag, load and start firing is not kosher to me.
I know people would love to try the trigger before they buy, ask a friend or go to the range.

I just can't imagine a person going to a store to rob it armed only with a fully loaded magazine. I won't buy a gun without dryfiring it first.

This weekend at Irving reminded me that a good place to observe/practice the handling/fondling of guns by prospective buyers is a gun show. I heard several "hey, don't do that!" from dealers as I strolled the aisles If you think you need some experience...go to one. After observing and picking up and looking at several hundred guns, you'll be a pro. Practice, practice, practice...
