Ammo Dump
South Post Oak
Houston
I read an article about them this morning and didn't even realize they had a range.
Has anyone ever used the range?

Just out of curiosity, why would you not recommend taking a class there? Was it unsafe, bad instruction, poor training room, etc?kanders wrote:The don't have a range; they just teach the classroom part of the CHL class there. I went in there once to look around and listened in on the class for a minute. I would not recommend taking it there and will probably not go back again. <<shudder>>

that is a strange place. i would not go back in there again. they just look at me weird and dont want to sell me anything. its feels like they dont really work there, and maybe i walked in on a robbery in progress. maybe they tied up the real employees in the back. the whole time i was in there they will not talk to anyone and wont answer the phones that are ringing off the wall, LOUDLY. im not sure they really sell guns there.

I agree with what has been said.
I went in several years ago and came away with the same impression, strange place and wouldn't want to go back.
Back in March, I chauffered a friend into Houston for a lawyer appointment and had some time to kill.
I had received a fund raising call from a lady claiming to be from TSRA for the legal defense fund for the owner of Ammo Dump (being persecuted by the BATFE?). That and not being able to remember what I didn't like about the place made me curious enough to go back.
I came away with the same feeling again.
They have relatively few guns or related products on display. They had maybe a dozen used guns, a few high dollar pieces, .50 rifle filled one case, etc. Most of their stuff looks like it hasn't been moved in 20 years. The employees, while not rude, aren't interested in selling anything. It does make you wonder.
