DPS Processing Times

I took examon Dec. 4th (Saturday). I dont recall the exact day I mailed my application but it was the following week.
Anyways, I received my license on Jan. 15 (Saturday). I couldn't believe I got it this fast, considering it was holiday season ( Christmas and New Years). Their definitely on the ball.

Some other posters in the January thread are showing CHLs issued in around 20 days. That's fast!!

From the day I took the class, to when I got my CHL in hand, was only 23 days. However, I do live in Austin, and my instructor turned everything in for us.

Almost the same here. Total time from class to license in hand was 25 days. The course was in Austin on a Saturday and the instructor took all our paperwork to DPS the next Monday. Now to keep reminding myself as the instructor put it about concealed carry: "It is an awesome responsibility". But every time I do, I keep hearing the Burgermeister Meisterburger from "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town". Curse Bass and Rankin!

Greetings, all. I've been a lurker for a little while. I'm stoked because DPS has received my paperwork.

2/6 - Class
2/13 - Online application
2/16 - Fingerprinting
2/17 - Mailed in paperwork
2/22 - "Paperwork received" status

From recent posts, it sounds like they've been very quick about this. I'm probably going to be a little longer due to me living in New Jersey for 3.5 of the past five years.

Edit: Yikes. It looks like some of you had to wait a while in the Fall of last year.

2/24 - background check complete
3/3 - plastic in hand

exactly 2 months mailbox to mailbox. i will add that i've moved a LOT over the past 5 years (i think i listed 6 or 7 addresses on my application, all in Texas but 3 different counties) and i had a juvenile arrest in January 2000 for a class B misdemeanor that i received deferred adjudication for, served probation and the charges were subsequently dropped and expunged from my record. i was told by the DPS that this was the main cause of the delay in my application, not only did they have to verify charges that were expunged from my record, but the court records are sealed due to the fact that it was a juvenile case. i never was asked to send notarized copies of the arrest report or any court documentation though, which surprised me a bit.

Wow!

Less than a week including enroute time. That has to be a record 3/4 days to process and manufacture.

I submitted my application online and mailed in the packaged on 2.25.11. Per my tracking, DPS received the packaged on 2.28.11 but on the DPS site is still showing the following:

License Status: Application processed online. Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page.

it normally takes 2 weeks and maybe a couple more days, to show any status changes on DPS website.

Still no status yet. I sent an email on Wednesday but did not receive a response yet.
