I called today to just "check in", and was told that 60 days is the norm, and that they received my paperwork on the 12/28, all this time I thought they had it since the 22nd.
i know i've probably read it before but did you have prior arrests or anything in your background check that would delay things so long? i expected mine to take about 2 months because of a prior arrest, but you're right... some guys are getting their CHLs within 17 days now.
I had a few Class C arrest back in 90-93 for unpaid parking tickets. I provided the paperwork that actually stated I had no record on file from the local police, as the local court told me flat out they didn't keep Class C(traffic) records from 20 years ago.

In hindsight I probably should have left it off, as it wouldn't have showed up and is probably the reason for the holdup, but most here seem to think all and every arrest should be listed. So I went with that.

yeah i don't think it would have been a good idea to leave those arrests off the application, even if they were class C misdemeanors. there don't appear to be any exclusions to the rule of having to list ALL arrests, and if you were to leave them off and DPS were to find out about them they could deny your application on the basis that you failed to disclose a material fact.

i know how hard it is to be patient, especially when everyone around you is getting theirs so quickly, but you've only got another couple weeks until the 60 day mark. if you don't have anything within 60 days then you need to start calling and asking what the holdup is.

i haven't found it in writing anywhere, but several people have told me that after 60 days they either have to issue your CHL or deny it on the grounds that you failed to meet one or more of the criteria outlined in the CHL laws.

Been 34 days for me since DPS received my packet.

Still shows "Background Pending"

No criminal history.

Been employed by Fed. Law Enforcement Agency for over 20 years in administrative capacity. Hold a TS Clearance.

I was told the holdup may be at my local county.

Guess I need to be a little more patient.

They've had my packet for 37 days now. Still waiting on fingerprints and background check. I hold a TS as well. It obviously doesn't make a difference. My only guess that I've been in a few states over the last 5 years.

I called them after seeing the January submissions already getting theirs. All they told me was that they were still within the 60 days.

Not much else we can do but wait......

43 days for me.

I'm starting to think that having had a CCW or background check for some other reason slows the process down. There is a guy who got his is 16 days, he sent it in on 1/24 and is showing as manufacture.

The following should be taken in jest,
Could they have pushed aside all the late December app to the side and are just doing January app only? I mean the average for the January thread is probably around 20 days, yet there are plenty of December guys still waiting.

I swore I wouldn't check it today, because I was tired of the disappointment, but of course couldn't help it.

WOOOHOOOO!!!!!!

All complete(44 days), just pending manufacture, based on what others have posted, I expect to to have the actual card in the next 10-15 days. Just a few weeks before my Birthday, I shall celebrate by getting my Volkmann out of lay away, and not having to wait for the NICS check!!!!

Did anyone else here NOT receive anything back from DPS about their packets being received?

I had sent via Certified Mail and actually got the card back over two weeks from time they signed for it. However, never received any other notification from DPS.

One problem I am concerned about is I have my Physical Address and then my Mailing Address. I am hoping they aren't sending things to my physical address because I don't have mail delivered here. In past, this had been a problem with my drivers' license and car registration.

I may need to call just to find out.

It is my understanding that they do not send you anything anymore. I did my application online and when I sent in my CHL-100 ,photos, and other various paperwork, I never got anything back in the mail except the USPS delivered card.

Have you checked online? If after two weeks there is still nothing, you should give them a call, but be prepared to be on hold for around 30 minutes.

I've been torturing myself by checking everyday. Everything has cleared except for my background pending. Been on background pending for two weeks now.
