Re: Proposal to ban high-cap mags with NO GRANDFATHERING
and since when do economist think they know gun control?
since i stepped in it and was taken out of context....i will let my other feeling lay in rest.
i was simply trying, without to much clarity on my part...meant to bring up
what one has already approached about supply demand
an economist that wants to stop production of an item, when demand is there is not being smart minded.
or producing a item with no demands leads to collapse.
I think that if its a turn in your magazine or we will come to your house and take it. one at at time will not be a problem for the law official
just like the missing of one person could go unnoticed for a long time
are police going to uphold a law they may not believe in? most would probably do just that....they are not in the business to believe in a law...only enforce it.
if soldiers are turned on us...then that to would be a hard ticket for many uniformed persons to uphold, but most would, or risk themselves under penalty of law
then we would only have to look back into our own history to see what would happen next, maybe slowly at first but it would build to be a very different world.
where would the lines be drawn?
i did not infere i was against more than one bullet mags.
i know for one more is better.
and i also know that not having to stop a threat in my home or elsewhere in recent history would probably cause me to empty a magazine into a threat without really giving it much thought at the time, as I am sure the fight or flight would have kicked in.
my xd like many others, can empty 17 rounds in a jiffy, never mind a nervous finger

Stay away from my Pierce grip extenders!
That's the new loop hole.

Bah, this will blow over and I am certain that we will not see any new anti-gun legislation make it to the president's desk thanks to the House, and the Speaker of the House. I will say that this is not the time to quit worrying because we have to let our congress critters know that if they do vote for anything anti-gun we will vote anti-incumbent in less than two years. One of the best ways to do so is to join the NRA, and your state level groups as well. For us Texans that would be the TSRA and TFC.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

All we NEED is a sign
"Criminals line up here had to head, I only have 1 bullet"
1-inch block letters, contrasting colors, they'll obey the sign right?

Actually, I'm pretty sure this is wrong. New York State ban was a mirror of the US AWB, but with no expiration. NYC may be the exception.Incidentally, it is important that this time the ban go further than the 1994 assault weapons ban. That law had a giant loophole -- it grandfathered all existing large-capacity magazines, and there were millions in circulation at the time in the United States (or that could be imported from Eastern Europe). This time, we would hope for a flat ban on transfer or possession, such as the one that exists, say, in New York state.

That is awesome, but are there any practically concealable belt-fed handguns?RPB wrote:I just read the best comment ........

Linked belts in excess of 10 rounds were considered "high capacity ammunition feeding devices" and it was technically illegal to link more than 10 during the AWB.Fangs wrote:That is awesome, but are there any practically concealable belt-fed handguns?RPB wrote:I just read the best comment ........

Re: Proposal to ban high-cap mags with NO GRANDFATHERING
k then, we need to engineer a system whereby cartridges are held together to the next one, and fed without need of an enclosing magazine device .... siliconed together? ... perhaps silly string, or better thick Jello .... cherry maybe ...
you guys work on the feeding mechanism device, I'll test various flavors of Jello

How about holding steel cases together with electromagnets. Kill the juice, and everything falls apart.RPB wrote:k then, we need to engineer a system whereby cartridges are held together to the next one, and fed without need of an enclosing magazine device .... siliconed together? ... perhaps silly string, or better thick Jello .... cherry maybe ...

Re: Proposal to ban high-cap mags with NO GRANDFATHERING
I get the magnet part, it's the electricity-gunpowder mix I'm apprehensive about. It could be an invention with shocking results maybe. Could work with proper insulation maybe, I know the electricity itself wouldn't run through the casings, just the magnetism ... I hope ...sjfcontrol wrote:How about holding steel cases together with electromagnets. I figure if we were able to time bullets firing between the spinning front propeller blades on airplanes long ago, most anything is possible. I'm continuing my Jello research ...
