Tactical Pistol Training
If anyone on the NW side of the Houston area is looking for some training I recommend the folks at Guardian Defensive Solutions. http://guardiandefensive.com/I attended Phase I of the Tactical Pistol Training series this morning and it was a great class with some good information especially for those of us that haven't had any training. Splitting a business card at the end of the class was fun! I'm looking forward to taking Phases II and III. Each phase cost $75 and after taking all three phases you can go back and take any phase again for $25.

That looks good. They should teach the first phase class more on weekends.
I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.

Re: Tactical Pistol Training
Josh and Donovan are great kids and do a wonderful training class.
I call them "kids" because I've known the family for several years.
RIP Cheryl.

Re: Tactical Pistol Training
I went through Phase II training this morning. We fired around 150 rounds going through several different scenarios involving moving and shooting and engaging multiple targets. It was alot of fun being able to draw and fire as fast as you can, perform a tactical reload and fire again. Josh did another outstanding job of testing our abilities and showing us areas we need to improve. I can't wait to take this Phase again! Phase III is next Saturday morning so hopefully the wife doesn't have something for me to do that I'm not aware of.
I wish I could've stuck around for the chili cook off they were holding. The weather was perfect for the contestants.
You are so right USA1. Josh and Donovan are both great guys

Re: Tactical Pistol Training
Completed Phase III yesterday. Cover and concealment work was harder than I thought it would be. Shooting from the driver seat of an HPD officers Jeep was a blast! I'll be going back to take all three phases over and over again. I feel really confident in the instruction I recieved since an HPD officer was assisting as well as there being a Vietnam Vetreran with over 30 years of law enforcement experience being present in a supervisory type roll. The difference in my abilities from now and when I started is night and day and I'm just getting started.

Re: Tactical Pistol Training
This sounds like what I've been looking for but it is too far away from me.
If anyone learns of anything simular on the south side, toward Galveston, I'd like to hear about it.

Re: Tactical Pistol Training
My son and I took the classes earlier last year. They were a "prerequisite" to his mother and grandmother signing off (read paying for) his CHL class.
We enjoyed the experience so much we took up a little IDPA to keep the round count up and to stay frosty.
My wife was impressed with the "change" in our son and the serious, methodical, safety first skill set he has developed since taking the classes and shooting IDPA nights. When out shooting with friends, they have commented on his gun handling skills as well. His major is now Criminal Justice and good grades are his first priority.... to be clear dad is still faster but that will change soon
I really appreciate having a "force multiplier" in the home and as a backup out with the family.
Josh and Donovan are great instructors, fun to be around and serious about their work.
They also work very well with the ladies. I have been trying to get my wife over there after seeing them work with the ladies in our classes.

Re: Tactical Pistol Training
Phill, You might look into the tactical pistol group at Best Shot Range in Pearland (just off I=45 on 2362). They meet every Sunday at 6:00 P.M. for two hours of training and exercises supervised by Ferrell Munson, a really execelent trainer. You can PM Ferrell as fm2 on this board or look up his past posts for details of the sessions.PhilC50 wrote:This sounds like what I've been looking for but it is too far away from me.
