one who witnessed the shooting and pinned downed the shooter was armed, but did not have to pull on him since the shooter was already taken down to the ground. He added, that the shooter run out of ammo of the first extended magazine, slide locked back, and was trying to reload when a lady took that fresh magazine, 3 more extended magazines were found on him plus a pocket knife. He said the shooter was ready for war!

Sad story, an accomplice is being localized.

Note: Most likely, the glock magazines are 22 rds, witnesses said 15-20 were heard being shot. He may had 30 rds magazines, but aren't those hard to conceal?

There was a report that the shooter felt the government was tapping his phone. This and his age of 22 would indicate he might have paranoid schizophrenia.
Which would of course be a get out of jail free card.

My sincere sympathy and sorrow for the victims and their families. I presume among the dead and wounded are real heroes, who probably threw their bodies in harms way to protect others or to stop this madman. We may never know.

Very very sad.

I just heard the gunman bought the Glock 9mm legally from a sporting goods store in AZ on November 30th of last year.

If you read the Twitter feed (posted by RPB), she was taking classes with him in 2007. He's 22. He would have been 19 then, so I seriously doubt he ever served in the military, much less a tour in Afghanistan. And he certainly wasn't a tea partier. If anything, he'd be more aligned with the communist organizations that are constantly stirring up trouble in this country.

She might want to mix in one of those things called "prepared statements". Now that more and more facts are coming out about the shooter I bet she wishes she had that statement back. If not now she will later. She was speaking from the hospital where her friend, Congresswoman Giffords, was being treated. She let her emotions get the better of her and wanted to cast blame on her opponents without getting all the facts first.

This is premeditated murder pure and simple. Justice dictates a speedy trial by his peers with no psycho-babble and no excuses.

Should a guilty verdict be reached, a public hanging would be appropriate.

A tragedy for all, but yes, there seem to be number people just foaming at the mouth to blame this on conservatives, reference the statements made by Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik. My preliminary research yesterday indicated a strong probability Loughner is anything but a conservative based on his online statements, favorite book list and some indications as to his religious preferences. Of course this evidence is not conclusive and I do not have the resources the PCSO and others would. It is going to be interesting to see how the spin-machine works this.

HOT OFF THE PRESS!

WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH WILL PICKET FUNERALS OF TUCSON DEAD AT THE HAND OF APPARENT DERANGED MAN.

"WBC prays for your destruction—more shooters, more dead carcasses piling up, young, old, leader and commoner—all. Your doom is upon you! Praise His Name!"

This is the group that pickets funerals of our servicemen and servicewomen, This is precisely the kind of thing which can be expected to simmer in the mind of a deranged person and lead to a tragedy like we have just seen.

It is useless for the Sheep to circulate petitions calling for universal vegetarianism while the Wolves hold a different opinion.

"Legally?" This could possibly result, even in Arizona, in questions about limiting sales to certain categories of persons. Recognizing there was apparently no medical diagnosis in this case, that will most likely not inhibit moves, or publicity, in that direction.

Slippery slope?

I have feeling that the shooter is not crazy nor having mental issues. He is a life failure. He was finding refuge in extremists anti-government ideology. He might have associated himself with anti-government groups to gain some esteem and redemption for his failure. He seeked violent attack against a public figure in public place to gain notoriety and fame and as way to terminate his failed life
