TxDPS Website Question

#1

Post by ripntear »

Hello all,

This is my first post and hopefully someone can shed some light on a question I have regarding the TxDPS site.
I applied online on 12/9 and sent all required items in on 12/14. I sent it priority mail so they should have received it by 12/17.

Question: When I log onto the TXDPS site under "Online Services", then "Login to check status of a current application" it takes me to a "Choose Service" screen. On this screen it only gives these options:
Apply or Renew
Apply for your concealed handgun license
Apply for your instructor certificate
Apply for your concealed handgun license AND your instructor certificate it only gives these options:

Is this normal to not have any status showing?

Thank you for the help.

I hate to be the bearer of bad / unpleasant news, but here goes.

It will take approximately 2 weeks to show any status... and that was when the website was working. Shortly after we (hubby and I ) received our plastic, it seems the site quit working correctly as far as status goes. There are folks here that have gotten their plastic and the site still shows pending. It is just the DPS way to make you nutty during the wait.

Good luck and welcome!

Thank you for the reply.

It would be nice to know if they even received my application package. I guess it's my fault for not requesting a delivery confirmation.

Assume they received it 4 days after you sent it (as long as you did not send it after December 18, due to the shutdown for Christmas till December 27th).
If you sent it before December 18 (or so) it should take about 30 days from their receipt to your mailbox (assuming no history that needs a lot of verification).
Some have had their plastic 20 days or so from mailbox to mailbox, and others have received their plastic prior to the website being updated to even showing mailed.
if it goes more than about 30 days, then start to inquire to DPS,anything before that, just think of as normal procedure time.

They were very good about replying to emails when I checked on my app. Within 15 minutes for every email I sent. If it's been more than a week since you mailed it in, wouldn't hurt to email them.

They were always pleasant and receptive to phone calls and emails, as my status changed well before my hubbys at the "manufacturing" stage. We had been neck and neck until that point. He called them/emailed them several times. I had mine almost 10 days before his, but it seemed they waited til his bday so he could have the full year before renewal. Scarey the thought that went into that one.

Hang in there it will be the longest 30 or so days... almost like waiting on a baby to arrive.

I did get an e-mail back stating "Your application has not been entered into the system. It is likely going through the processes required for entry". I sent back asking how long it takes once they receive the application to get "entered into their system". Response was "generally 2-4 weeks".

The website is just a tool designed to frustrate you at this point! It NEVER updated during my processing and i received plastic 38 days from the day the DPS received it. . .I called 21 days in just to see what I could find out and was told on the phone that my "license had been issued and to watch the mailbox". . . 17 looooooong days later it arrived!
Don't waste your time with the website, spend that time browsing this forum and learning!! Good Luck to you!

The best way to know for sure if/when they get it is to spend a little more at the post office to get a tracking number that you can check on your own. From then on, it's a crapshoot.
