Lazergrips for a carry gun

I would like to hear some opinions on this ,Let me start off with I have diabetes and it seems the longer it goes the more eyesight I am losing and its getting hard to see the sights ,So i was thinking of getting a set of the Lazergrips for my Glock 23 .

the things the worry me are if I have to use my gun will a Lawyer fro the family /BG turn it into a you area killer and my client was the good guy in this ?


I would like to know , I can have surgery to fix my eye that is but the down time is like 6 months to do both .

I trust all of the fine members of this board that's why I am asking

IANAL, but this is my opinion: Even a mediocre lawyer should be able to paint laser sights not as an evil killing tool, but as an aid to accuracy to avoid shooting any innocent parties. And since the shootee in your hypothesis was hardly innocent, that should be enough.

I can't find the stat, but one of our instructors told me that when a PD added lasers to thier pistols, thier officers first shot hit rate improved to 90% from under like 20 or 30%.

Sorry for the vagueness, but I definately think the laser is a good thing.

Train with and without if you do go that route.

I know that it is not exactly what you asked, but have you looked at the TFO sights? I shot GlockenHammer's Glock with the sights and they are very very bright. I would think that seeing the sights on that thing would be easier than seeing a laser on a target. Likely cheper as well. Just my thougths...

thanks for the input and opinions , I have night sites on the 23 already and the are bright, its that I can't focus on the front sight so my shooting is getting off a bit and was thinking that a set of laser grips would help.

Again thanks for all the input ,now its my turn to think about it and act on it .

I put a Lasermax internal laser (replaces the recoil spring guide rod) on a G17 back in the 90s. It still works fine. Although it's only useful during twilight or darkness, it makes all the difference, especially when you're moving and engaging a moving target. Zeiss lens cleaning tissues (Walmart) work well for cleaning the optical window ( a must after firing the pistol).

I'm sorry about your vision problems.

I can't say that I've ever heard of laser sights being a factor in a criminal prosecution or lawsuit. A district attorney or plaintiff's attorney will use anything to prop up a case, including caliber and ammunition type. However, that kind of thing doesn't seem to work with juries in Texas.

You have something on your side, namely, claiming that you have a disability.

My eyesight is 20/20, better even at times, and I am still wanting to put Crimson Trace grips on my 3" Kimber. I shot Bill's(The Marshal) Warrior with a laser on it, and it was like walking up to the target and shooting point blank - its THAT accurate, and I still consider myself to be in the learning phase of handgun shooting.

well at 61 yrs i don't see as well as at say 30 yrs. i have ct lasers on all my Glocks I think just the red dot might stop the fight before it starts,I hope

Lots of folks debate this very topic on just about every gun board there is.

I have either laser grips of lasermax units on every handgun I own and carry except the new little Kel-Tec P3AT. When I go to the range, I practice both with and without the lasers activated. In no way do I feel I am 'depending' on them, I use the laser as just another shooting tool.

When I trained my son to shoot before he went to his CHL class, the lasers were a very valuable teaching aid. When he saw the laser dot drop, or jump, he was able to see exactly what I was telling him about how he was anticipating, or nervous. After the laser levelled out and his shooting was fairly smooth, the laser went off and those good habits instilled by using the laser remained. He is a heck of a good shooter now and feels as I do about the laser.... it is just another tool.

On a personal side note, I firmly believe that a red dot in the center mass of some punk wannabe just might make him think twice. Maybe not for a hardened criminal, but I will happily use all the shooting tools at my disposal.
