Did my 'Wally Walk' at HEB and everything went great. CHL website still says manufacturing pending. Looks like the computer update people are the ones on vacation. :fire

Packet received to plastic in hand was exactly a month!
Congrats Bro! The website is still showing my finger prints and BGC are still "under review". I've got my fingers crossed that my progress is further along than the website shows.

Be safe!
If it makes you feel better, the website is STILL showing as manufacturing pending for me.

I just ordered a new ankle holster today :thumbs2:

Well I broke down and called DPS today. Fella on the phone told me my finger prints came back fine but they were still waiting on the back ground check to come back. I guess my past is catching up to me again y'all. The time table I got was another month to go. That would put it in my mailbox right before Christmas. I guess DPS decided I needed some Christmas joy! I would've settled for an additional reason to be thankful.

My BGC and fingerprints are still under review and the plastic was in the mailbox today. So apparently the website is not current here as of late. With all the other posts it seems you might get more of a current timeline with a phone call to the helpline. I called last week and it showed to be "issued" but that was all they could tell me, but it was still a bit more current than the website. So if it has been at least a month and your information is showing as been received a phone call
might be a helpful idea. So 43 days it seems mailbox to mailbox. Not too bad. Good luck too all and my Wally Walk is in my near future. Happy Turkey Day, Bryan :woohoo

Well I called in for mine after it had been 3 weeks and my fingerprints still had not cleared. It still took almost two more weeks before my processing got any progress.

The only thing the rep could tell me was "It has been sent to a technician for review" It took me 55 days maibox to mailbox.

So i think its more a combination of:

a) your personal background vs what the state has for your background, and if you need a technician to sort it out.

b) luck of the draw as far as if you get backlogged in the bottleneck of apps.

c) history of backgorund checks. I kid you not. Not even 2 days after buying my first pistol and after getting my first first check ever to buy a gun everything in my chl process cleared. It has also been said that if you have passed backgorund checks for other things like work related, purchased a handgun, or some other activity that you will already be on file as cleared and your app can go faster.

So it might actually be better to go buy a handgun and go through a check then to call chl offices. Your purchase and the federal clearing of you to buy the gun will become part of your records and more than likely be of better help to a tech trying to pass you as valid for a license.

anyways sorry for the rant.

goodluck.

Hey all. I took my class on Oct. 16th, mailed everything the next Monday, and just received my CHL on November 26th, so... 38 days of waiting. My status still said the card was being manufactured the day I received it also, so it was a nice Thanksgiving surprise.

Just FYI, my status is still showing as manufacturing pending.

I feel like I've finally gotten comfortable carrying. Carried all over Houston yesterday including the Alley Theater, George R. Brown, Wal-mart and so on. It's starting to feel natural now. :thumbs2:

Finally got to Walmart after having had the plastic for a few days. I had the In-laws in town and with us so no pics.I did make the gun counter and priced some ammo. They only had one box total of .45 and it was $38 dollar a box so I let em keep it. Messed around in the christmas lights section for a while and left. So about a half hour total. Hope that makes it a "legal" Wally Walk.: :anamatedbanana

Well, my status still shows fingerprints and background check under review. I'm trying to not get my hopes up so I'm not let down if there is a setback. Anyone else noticed no updates while still receiving their plastic? :woohoo

I made my routine weekly call to DPS to check on the status of my application and was told they're still waiting on my background check to come back. DPS has been in posession of my application now for 49 days. It sounds like the same guy every week that answers the phone. Pretty soon the two of us are going to be on a first name basis. Heck, we might even exchange Christmas cards!

Just got my plastic in yesterday's mail. :hurry:

Here is a history of my application:

09/11/2010 Online application completed
11/06/2010 Class completed
11/08/2010 Paperwork mailed
12/09/2010 Plastic in-hand

Looks like it took right at one month to process my application.
It was an exercise in frustration to check the online status just about every day. :waiting:
I checked it today and it still says "Waiting on the receipt of required materials," even though I have the plastic in hand! :banghead:

So to those still waiting, hang in there, your day will come!
