if you had an AGGIE moment, you would've gotten it right the first time.

LOL, yes but remember it takes four of us to change a light bulb. And in my day, AGGIE Class of '74, we were stronger than today. Now it would take at least 6 of us from the class of '74 and and would have to discuss which way to turn the ladder to get it screwed in because we don't remember anymore.

OK, got the light bulb changed. Now that I have ordered the Springfield 1911 in 9mm. So need also recommendation on 10round mags for it. CMC does not seem to make one. I see the Wilson ETM, then there is the Tripp. Comments?

Can't ever go wrong with the Wilsons. They are the standard by which all others are judged.

Wilson, Tripp, maybe McCormick.
I'm seeing more Dawsons since the Dawson Ice magwell is becoming popular and one version of it almost requires the special Dawson basepads (which are available for Wilson mags as well as some others). People using the Dawson mags seem to be making positive reports on them. I actually got to try one, with the Ice magwell, on a 9mm 1911 Saturday. I only fired one mag, but it seemed very well made. (I mostly just wanted to try that magwell, since it was the first one I'd seen in person. But he insisted that I try shooting the gun. Hey, I'm always willing to shoot, especially if it's someone else's ammo  Competitive shooters are the greatest about letting others try their gear. :cheers2: ) The guy who owned the gun used those mags for the whole match, probably 150 rounds or so, and I don't remember him having any trouble at all. Dawson mags are also available with a more "standard" basepad as well, of course.

Other brands, forget them.

I have a 4 Dawson and 4 Tripp mags, both brands work very well. I also have a bunch of Metalform 9 round mags that run great.

thanks for all the good info. I think I see a shipping notice it was delivered to the Arms Room today. Not to have them upack it, do the magwell change out and trigger job. Should have the Tripp mags in shortly and ordered a belt comp-tac holster. Then to do the sight after the height figured out by shooting. Can't wait to hopefully use it this Monday and Tuesday night.

Well, I got it and it works nicely. Used it last Monday and Tuesday at the IDPA match and classes. I do need to learn to use a 1911 though but it shot well. Had Mark at the Arms Room add my S&A magwell, do some trigger work and waiting on the new Dawson Precision sights. Hope to use it tomorrow night if I can make the IDPA matches. I moved my VZgrip Operator IIs from the 45 to this one. Put a set of VZgrip Gatorbacks on the 45 for carry use. Yes, pictures once I figure out how to put them in and NOT have the little thumb nail you click on to see it. But really looks nice. I did get some Tripp Research mags for it. It came with 5 others. All Turtle Waxed and ready to go with pads. Thanks to all for the help.
