My renewal timeline:

Online application 9/2/10
Class 9/3/10
Mailed training form 9/4/10
Received plastic 10/23/10

7 weeks mailbox to mailbox. DPS moving at the speed of government as always. At least it was faster than my first application back in '06

I've been wondering if one's background makes a difference in the time it takes. I thought mine would take forever since I've had 4 different jobs, 5 different addresses and some time unemployed in the last 5 years. On the other hand at various points in my life I've been checked by the Secret Service, FBI, DOD, ATF and hold a type 03FFL. My background check took less than a week according to the DPS website. Just wondering if that made a difference at all.

I know it...I'm a dummy and didn't send in the CHL-6 when I mailed everything else on 9/9 so I'm not sure how long that set it back. Then the background check took a really long time. Today it finally updated to "manufacturing pending." We'll get 'em one of these days! ;-)
