Good Report. Think they got overwhelmed by the response of people. While in line heard there were people from out of state!! Crowds were patient, friendly, no problems that I saw, other than loooooong lines. But it was free!! Would go next time. Shot the .308 OBR range, RSO was surprised I shot off hand instead of using rest. Hit 3/5 silhouettes, RSO said only person so far to shoot off hand, I was about 100th person. Had not shot AR style rifle since AF days 20 years ago!! Cool rifle, been pricing on the net, I think about 3K!!
Thank you Larue!!!
I got to meet RapunzelYouPunk, that was cool.

I didn't make it out until a little after 2:00pm. I didn't try for any food, as I wanted to get some shooting in. I ran into some co-workers who were in line for the prone shooting, and opted to try the stuff in the tactical bays where the lines were shorter.

I started out at the "fat man" bay, where they were shooting the OBR 7.62 rifles. It took me around 20 minutes to make my way to the front. I met a guy who had a camera, so we traded cameras and took photos for each other. Here's me shooting at this station:

I will have to say that this was a sweet -shooting gun. They had a Trijicon ACOG mounted on it, with the caret-shaped reticle (^). I hit 5 for 5 with on my targets, and found the rifle to be very easy to be accurate with.

I looked around a bit and caught up with my co-workers, and we got in line for the offhand 5.56 shooting. I really like the self-resetting falling steel silhouettes they had there today. They were a blast to shoot. One of my co-workers took some video of me shooting this stage:

We finished up at another station that had both 7.62 and 5.56 guns, and all opted to shoot the 7.62 as they'd not shot that caliber yet, the line was shorter, and we wanted to make it back to the clubhouse in time for the door prize drawing. Again, fun shooting, and good times.

I'll agree, I think LaRue did not expect the sheer volume of people that showed up for the event. I think they'll likely get more staff in there and set up more places for each station next time if they do it again. It did seem that they had free PMAGs to give out, but were in short supply for the number of people that showed up. I missed them when they were handing them out in line, but one of my co-workers got one.

All-in-all, it was a good time, though hampered by the long wait times.

I went. What a cluster.

We got there at 9:55am, before the event was even supposed to start. From clubhouse to the first triggerpull (long range, first thing I did) was 2-1/2 hours - 5 rounds per person, per rifle (2 rifles).

I appreciate their effort, because they are great people who make great products, but I'll probably sit the next one out.

I was *very* tempted to get up early and drive down (from DFW) Saturday AM for this...decided that I needed sleep (until noon! :biggrinjester: ), from reading this, I'm glad I didn't...thank you all for your reports. Looks like it was GREAT for locals though. Maybe next year!
