Dumbest thing I heard a Doc/Surgeon say...

#1

Post by PUCKER »

Wife and I were in Academy today after lunch, looking at guns/ammo, just for grins, of course! (Seriously, I was there on another mission...but since I was there.... :biggrinjester: )

There's a guy in scrubs (overheard him say he was a doc/surgeon) that's at the gun counter and he's chatting with another customer. Doc/Surgeon guy tells the other customer that he wants to get something small to carry, since he works in a hospital and all...but it's illegal to carry in hospitals (he didn't say *his* hospital, but hospitals in general) and then he talks about how it's illegal to carry in churches....for once, I did NOT get involved in this conversation, but I'm kicking myself...if he has a CHL then he either didn't read/pay attention to the rules...or the instructor didn't go over it well enough....either way, it really chaps me when I hear folks spreading mis-information....ESPECIALLY gun-folks! :banghead:

What the doc forgot is that it has to be posted with a compliant 30.06 sign for it to be off-limits for CHL carry....oh well...I almost told him to check out the forum...next time I will.

I wouldn't want to be seen by that particular doctor... maybe he missed some important stuff during his residency :evil2:

I personally wouldn't want to be seen by a doctor that's running around in a non-sterile environment (at least, outside the hospital) in the same scrubs that he'd be wearing when he's working on me . . .

Real doctors don't run around town in scrubs. Students, interns, and nurses do, but generally speaking most others do not.

...and receptionists, billing specialists, janitors, or any one else who works in a doctor's, therapist's, or dentist's office, clinic, or hospital.

Maybe the doc is looking for something with which to TAKE his CHL class where he'll be pleasantly surprised to learn he can carry in hospitals as long as they aren't 30.06 posted. Am I the only one who understood the doc to be saying that he thinks it is illegal to carry in a hospital and that's why he wants something small and concealable, so he can break the law without getting caught?

If that's what he meant, that would far outweigh wearing scrubs around town as a reason to not trust him.

Regarding his profession, he passed himself off as a doctor that did surgeries...he was talking about surgeries. As far as wearing scrubs, the few times that I've been to the ER/Hospital, scrub-wear seems to be the norm for those in the medical profession, at least what I've seen with my own eyes. :tiphat:

:iagree: Also I think scrubs should not be allowed on the street.

Of course, this is true at work, but most don't wear them around town. Many ER docs I knew when I worked in the hospital didn't even wear them at work. The younger one's did, but not the more experienced.

He will be surprised if and when he takes the class. Then we can only hope he doesn't say anything to any of his hospitals administration about proper signage.

C-dub, I should mention that this was during the lunch hour, and there's a hospital within eyesight of this Academy.

Scrubs I don't mind so much. It's the lab coats that are really disgusting (and I say this as a medical student).

True!

They'll probably run around (inside and outside hospital) in Nike's, jeans, and unshaven...: Or, Docker's, Nike's, and pull-over shirt...

At least that's been my experience as a former hospital employee, patient, and visitor...

So true! I had a couple of sets of scrubs in college and they worked. :thumbs2:

I thought about that, but thought that would fall more into the unfortunate category than dumb. LOL
