Refinishing in Houston Area?
I am looking to see if anyone knows of and has had some experience with getting a firearm refinished by someone in Houston, TX or even in Texas? I do as much as I can to keep my money as local as posssible. I have a couple of firearms that are in dire need and 2 that are just for grins.

What kind of refinishing? Stainless polished out? CeraKote? Duracoat? Blued?
Re: Refinishing in Houston Area?
The two older firearms I woudl liek to get reblued to matchteh original finish. The other two I would like a more modern finish akin to duracoat, robard finish etc. Most of the modern aplied finishes are comparable. I have just been unable to locate/get any references.

Re: Refinishing in Houston Area?
Briley in Houston does traditional finishes such as blueing, parkerizing and chrome as well as some of the more modern ones such as electroless nickel and teflon.
I had taken a former boss' rifles to Briley to have them re-blued, but I did not pick them up when it was complete so I can't speak on the quality of their service. I never got to see the rifles after either (see 'former' boss). Though he sounded pleased with the service, he isn't much of a gun person. They were semi-old family heirlooms that began to rust, he had me research a place in Houston that could re-finish the rifles for him and I stumbled upon Briley. The turnaround was about a month and a half. They offer many custom/gunsmithing services as well as re-finish, so I thought the month and a half wasn't bad at all.
They have a storefront on the west Beltway near I-10 that sells shotguns and hunting apparel/accessories.
As for DuraCoat, try contacting Dale at gripreductions.com. I have never had work done by them, but their DuraCoat pricing was fair when I was in the market. I ended up doing a DuraCoat job myself which costed about $60 and I didn't do a very good job. I think Dale charges $50 per color (and a pattern fee if you want an intricate design). GripReductions has a storefront in Cypress, TX from what I was told.

Re: Refinishing in Houston Area?
might give Lone Star Armory in Pearland a call. He can get the bluing done and also does DuraCoat and Cerakote. If you dont mind shipping then Fords Guns (Florida) has done work for me as well and are very good, but they do take a couple months to turnaround. I can give you links to pics of both shops work on my pistols.

Re: Refinishing in Houston Area?
I usually send my stuff to a guy in La but I may have to check out the local guys. I just picked up a Colt Nicel plated 1911 that hasn't been lubed in 10yrs. It's in pretty bad shape

If you are on the south side I will be happy to take a look at it, strip it down and clean it up.
Re: Refinishing in Houston Area?
I have been thinking about trying to apply duracoat myself. Can not find a local supplier with it in stock. (Houston)

I order mine from http://www.lauerweaponry.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Pretty easy to do but metal prep is important and definitely bake it on.

Thanks for the tips.
